    Smile 1979 Series 3 88" - Ford 3.0 V6

    So, I've finally bought a series 3 88" landy.
I'll have to post up some pictures I know.

    It's a 1979 model
    Currently registered and licensed
Has a ford v6 motor, has nice power.
I fetched it in Jeffrey's bay yesterday and I drove on the old road, ( not the n2 )
I drove most of the way in 4 th gear

Obviously it needs some repair work done.

It has 2 plastic school chairs for front passenger and driver seats.
Does anyone know where I can get some series seats.
I think they are 3 separate sections?

In terms of getting some work done, I know savoy landrover in newton park will be able to help me, but I was thinking of using supreme auto in Parkin st north end.

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers

    Congratulations!

My colleague says that your seats are, at least, better than a tomato box

series seats are simple at least series 1's are. measure from door to door inside, subtract 50mm then divide by 3. then cut 3 square pieces of plywoor about 10mm thick. add foam and stitch on canvas,. there you go landy seats. unfortunately batteries flat or i would photo my seats. and welcome to the landy family i know u haD a long search.

    @ JediNAfrica
It's the previous owner cut apart the seat frames and popriveted them into the seat box.
I'm going to need a complete frame as well as cushions

    @$py
They are made in South Africa. India Safari, 7.50/16
I have a spare wheel as well.
I've seen on Gumtree some advertised for R1750:
    http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-...AdIdZ399771191

    http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-...AdIdZ392219363

I've also noticed that the door tops need some refurbishing.
As in the area that the glass slides in, the mouldings (rubber?) look a bit rotted & rusty.
I was thinking of just removing the door tops and not using them, but on the other hand it would be nice to be able to close everything up in winter.

    @ JediNAfrica
Do you know if Savoy carries series spares? Otherwise, perhaps you could let me know where to find some series land rover scrapyards?

    Default Seatbox and Seats

    Hello Racer-X

I have a seatbox (three to choose from, including seatframes) and seats (two sets to choose from). They all need a bit of work, but still ok. They came out of Series II and Series III vehicles.

If you want them, you can give me R500.00 for both the seatbox and seats.

there is a series 2 at vans and a series 3 at autoking on cheverolet street in markman township both pickups. skydoors deal is better than the ones u will get at either place for seats.
yes Savoy can get parts for ur landy or as Brett will tell you you can order them yourself from leimers land rovers joburg.

leimer is the same guy who sells the tires lol just saw the gumtree ad.
cut a sample of any rubbers u need replacing and bring to belting supply down off 80 burman rd in deal party. we sell them or can get them.

@spy contact local contipartner they should be able to get general tire super all grips in 7.5/16 also.

    That's sounds great!
How do I get them to PE though?

    @ Jedi

I saw leimers are selling this tyres.
Do you work at belting supplies?
I was there the other getting some stuff.

    Default Seatbox and seats

    Hello Racer-X,

Well, the first thing we can do is ask the forum guys if anybody is traveling between CT and PE. If we are lucky, we can find somebody.

Otherwise, we can try KINGS. They are fairly reasonable in prices. I also have a buddy in the transport business. I will ask him if he knows of an opportunity going down.

First off though - Is there anybody on the forum going from CT to PE that can transport a seatbox and a set of seats for Racer-X?

When/if we find a way to get them to you, we can talk about payments.

yes i work in there i was the driver but i just switched to the storeman. as far as scrapyards go those r the only 2 series i have found in scrapyards in pe. also if u have the spare Rands and the yard space there is an old pickup you could look at for a spares truck on gumtree in sunridge for R5000 http://easterncape.gumtree.co.za/c-C...AdIdZ404349042

    Great.
    Thank you.

I also need a steering wheel.
I have this aftermarket wheel currently installed and I don't like it.

In the middle of the dash, are spaces for 3 gauges.
    1is missing
    1 is oil pressure
    1 is ammeter

    What is the missing one?

I saw that landy in sun ridge.
Unfortunately I don't have the space to keep it, otherwise it would have been a good option

    Default Steering wheel and dash

@Racer-x. I can probably help you with a steering wheel as well, as I replaced the one on the Landy I am working on.

AFAIK, there is only two gauges in the middle of the dash. There is a space for a third, but this is normally blanked of. But to be honest, I am not that much of an expert, and I will leave the gauge question for somebody who knows more than me about Landies.

steering wheel available at scrapyard i know that for sure and i am sure on both. asfar as guages go not sure mine are not original. as my fueltank has to float setup or wires to readthe float and yet i have a nonworking gasgauge lol just something someone put together over the year, but i would guess water temp.

next time u pop by belting supply ask for luke.

    @skydoor
How much do you want for the steering wheel?
Is it the 3 spoke type, completely black?
Not the the 3 spoke with wire spokes?

    @JediNAfrica
Do you know the price of the steering wheel in the scrapyard?

    @skydoor
Are the doortops you have for sale needing any work?
My ones need the rubber channels replaced.
    It's rusty & perished & doesn't look so great.

I have a seatbox already, so i would just need the seats.
Is it the seat back and bench that you are selling?
