    Thanks guys

The second gas bottel is always close by, so running out of gas is unlikely, but think ill go with the y-piece for a start
Interms of my stone protector David please see pics

As you can see I fixed some threaded rod to the tow bar brackets, these are drilled (next time Ill just use 2 nuts each side as stoppers) where the spring sackles hook on. The padded canvas has holes on the side where I fitted the bungy cord through that ties up with the eyelet bolts I installed in the nose box (with nuts and body washers).

Mine has been running now as I say fo 12 000km and can see the bungy cord needs replacement (or retention) to keep the canvas tight against the A frame. The reason for the padding in the canvas is; 1. protects the A frame 2. I believe last longer 3. No flapping in the wind

I tried to extend the threaded inline or a little past the line of the back wheels for maximum protection

This with the nose cone cover from Romeo has served me well

In the pics below I still used little U-shackles, but replaced these with spring shackles for quick hook and release

Thanks mate! I appreciate that. I may follow that design myself. The only thing I think I'd have to change is the rod sticking out from the rear bumper. That would get snapped off by a lot of the terrain I'm on. Perhaps a really stiff coil spring would do the job? That way if it hit a bush or the ground while doing some cross-axle work, it would just bend and return to place.

Dit rit voel vir my baie ferm, veral agter.

Hy sleep lekker, ek was bekommerd oor stabiliteit maar daar was geen probleme nie. En die verbruik laat mens

Has anyone changed their door locks to the shiny bling chrome looking ones.Mine are badly chipped and starting to corrode.Especially the ones on the 2 nose cone doors. The fridge slide door is also badly chipped.
I dont like the shiny ones but also dont like them looking so chipped and corroded.
    Any advice.

    LC man

With such a "new" Lapa I would be concerned, when and how did the locks such a beating (the nose cone ones I can understand if you not using a cover and do serious gravel)

Has anyone else had this issue?

Somewhere earlier in the thread someone had pictures of the shiny / chromed ones they bought from Midas or similar type car part merchant which they found to be much better quality than the originals.

I lost one of the locks on one of my early trips in 2014. It simply fell out.....only held by one screw. I found new ones at Roadque in Silverton Pta. The guy there showed me the standard mattblack as well as the chromed ones.....he claimed the chrome ones are better and I must say the insides, mechanism etc appears to be of higher quality. They cost about 30% more. I bought 4 and replaced the sidebed and kitchen locks. Kept the old mattblack ones as spares. Also used some Locktight on all the single screws. Never had a problem since

Not a MOD, but a thank you to JC at Bushlapa...took my Vlooi to a mate to torque u- bolts, and was it pointed to me that both shocks were very loose connecting to the axel...they actually needed spacers on either side...I phoned JC, he asked me to come in asap, which I did this morning...replaced both shocks..added spacers for a "tight" fit, no charge, checked and reajusted the wheelbearings..no charge.. , oh by the way the shocks have done approximately 8000km..

Now that is what I call SERVICE!!

Did mail JC and Jannie to say thank you.
