Oningeligte mense George... just wave and carry on.

Ek stem, dis 2 verskillende produkte.

Al bied Jannie my 'n geen xtra inbetaling inruil op 'n Baobab aan bly ek eerder by my Vlooi....
    - Pas in my standaard garage
    - Sleep baie maklik, Prado voel hom skaars.
    - Ideale toer wa, ons is baie selde langer as 2 of 3 dae op een plek.

Presies my sentiment.

Narrow minded, snobby, idiotic people think this or those who don't use BL's for their real intended purpose. I miss the Boskriek for the reasons Harry states exactly but love the Baobab for it's more convenient features and space although it is only my wife and i.

    Two door vs four door

    Sports car vs luxury sedan

Towability and manoeuvrability vs comfort and convenience

Tough choice depends on your priorities and circumstances

    Hi Gustav

You've asked for some details so here's a partial answer

My mods to the Kewer were inspired by an incredibly cold experience at Kagga Kamma and by my search for the unicorn being the perfect camper van

    Let me explain.

We camped at Kagga Kamma on our own for 5 days in our Oz tent in May this year. It was below zero at night with loads of frost and ice around in the early morning. We absolutely loved the place and the overall experience but not the cold. Also because it was so cold with serious wind chill to boot, we weren't able to sit around the fire but chose to retreat to the bar at reception. What a relief! What this taught us was that an ability to escape frosty conditions by sitting inside a van would mean we could still go on trips in winter.

Searching for the unicorn led us to other camper vans like Afrispoor's Serval and Cheetah. You can take a look at a pretty detailed comparison on the Afrispoor or Bush Lapa Help me to choose thread. https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...ELP!!!!!/page5

What we found was that Afrispoor's offering in certain departments was just better in my view - their shower setup, washing area, Porta Potti storage solution for example

So our mods have been inspired by a desire to be able to live inside the van when it gets cold and miserable outside and an attempt to find a solution to some areas which we considered could be improved upon by BL. Please note that this is our view. Other will disagree and that's fine.

Given that there is just the 2 of us, we fell in love with the Kewer with its new pop up roof , wide open entry to the bed, the fact that there is a table and bench to sit at and its overall size and weight which will make towing and maneuvering just a little easier than a Baobab. Choosing between a 2 sleeper Kewer and a 2 sleeper Baobab both with table and bench was a really difficult decision. In the end we decided on the sports car versus the sedan

    Our list of mods includes

    • creating a daybed with an awning by swinging the upward opening window around so that it opens normally as on other Goggas - this way we can use it for taking an afternoon nap, or for increasing our dining space by using the surface as a table. Remember that the table drops down to form a bed on the Kewer
    • Having access to the kitchen from inside the van. That way I can make coffee from inside - think Nespresso - and we can have munchies too
    • Improving the usable storage area in the nosecone by opting for a box in the middle which can be removed when we need to carry jerry cans. BL have just released a new nosecone which is really nice in my view
    • Improving the storage area in the fridge slide area by having a single drawer built which I will use for spares and some recovery gear. We have a Thetford small Porta Potti which then fits on top of the drawer
    • We will also make use of the channel in the fridge slide area by having 2 rubber bungees stretched the width of the van
    • Upgrading the battery system to make it blue tooth enabled, lithium ready with a larger capacity that will allow us to live off grid for longer
    • Improving the lighting and power points by adding to what is supplied standard inside and out
    • Deciding to have our shower away from the van rather than at the rear which then makes the entrance muddy. We will simplify fit an extention hose to the geyser and shower at the vehicle using a Quick Pitch shower
    • Re-locating the washing up area to the fridge slide like on the Baobab to free up the area at the entrance. There are pros and cons to this but we prefer it here
    • Being able to increase the shaded area of the Bushwing by using one of the side panels which can be extended and held up with 2 additional poles

    These are our main mods.

I have to say that we have benefited tremendously from becoming a late entry Bushlapian with many of the mods on this thread now standard features.

I also have to say that both Jannie and Francois have been extremely helpful and patient in the whole process.

The last mod will have to wait until I post images when we get the van!!
