Default EC feat. WC - Vleesbaai - 26-28 October 2007

A lot of people have asked this, so it's on.

Vleesbaai is halfway between PE and CPT, so no one has excuses. +/- 4 hours drive from either side.

I just want to get a feel now for who will attend. I will get all the details regarding camp sites, trails in the area, etc during the next couple of days and put it up here.

I'll either take the Friday off and be there around 2pm, or only take the afternoon off and be there 6pm. Barto and Dirk has been there so they know exactly what we can do in terms of trails.

I will find out if we can hire radios here for those of us that don't have.

    Agenda so far:
Friday - 26 October 2007 - Those arriving will do Vleesbaai trail - Set up camp at Vleesbaai
Saturday - 27 October 2007 - Do Bonniedale which is closeby, and head back to Vleesbaai for the night
Sunday - 28 October 2007 - Do Vleesbaai and head home when you feel like it

    Further information on trails:
    Vleesbaai - http://www.wheels24.co.za/Driveout/T...132900,00.html
    Bonniedale - http://www.wheels24.co.za/Driveout/T...132873,00.html

So please start putting your names down.
    1. Chris (& SWAMBO) - No Radio - No Big Screen Projector
    2. Barto - VHF & 29 Meg Radio(if the 29 is fixed by then)
    3. Dirk - 29meg (in pencil though still need to confirm)
    4. Hoffie - no further info
    5. Ratsalad (Chris), wife and 2 kids (girl 7,boy 4). 29mHz.
    6. Ianf, wife and kids (no radio)
    7. Spike - no further info
    8. Bryan Webber - no further info
    9. Gordz - still checking it out

    UPDATED INFORMATION:
We are booked from 26-28 October 2007

There are 2 campsites at Vleesbaai, they are both next to each other but the one has a sea view and other doesn't. The campsite also has a nice lapa for us to kuier. There are ablutions with hot water showers.

The campsite with the seaview can only hold about 7 tents / trailers. So the first 7 people to book will get those tents. I think it's just fair first come first serve.

    Cost of camping:
With seaview - R150 per stand per night (Total: R450)
Without seaview - R100 per stand per night (Total: R300)

The lady said we only need to pay R180 for the trail and we can do it as many times and as many days as we want to. This is only for Vleesbaai trail.

Bonniedale trail is R200 per vehicle. 2 trails of 35kms in total. It depends on weather for us to be doing trail.

There is a shop there which sells a couple of things if we need. They have wood for us.

Closest place to get diesel is Gouritz which is 20km away.

We don't need to pay her a deposit, but I need to tell her by 15 October 2007 how many vehicles/people we will be. Everyone will pay for themselves on Sunday when we leave.

So please let me know who is camping on what side.

    CAMP SITE WITH SEA VIEW
    1. Chris (& SWAMBO) - 29MHz
    2. Barto and no crazy friends!

    CAMP SITE WITHOUT SEA VIEW

I'll be there the same time as Chris. I suggest we do Bonniedale the Saturday and Vleesbaai the Sunday morning....we worked it out and it will be better for packing up, etc if we do Vleesbaai where we will be camping as well, on the last day. Chris, I and whoever else is there early will probably do Vleesbaai the Friday afternoon as well.

I'm staying at Storms River from 24th to 28th October. How feasible would it be for me to drive there from Storms and spend say, 1/2 to 3/4 day with you guys (but not the Sunday)? Any more and swambo will butcher me...

EDIT: Hmmmm, 236km from VB to Storms, so it's a bit far for half a day...

The option is then join you on the Sunday on the way home, so what sort of time would you be leaving?

Sounds good, tell me more, tell me more.

Will however have to watch market trends, and carefully consider, as I work a 6 day week, and that the start of our busy period.

Seeing we are now on the same page, you can stick my name in. It is a long time away and things can happen, but I'm keen to do this area and trail.

Thanks Chris. But by saying setting up camp, I mean pitching my tent and pulling out the braai grid

We'll leave the big screen and surround sound speakers for Renier.

As Barto said, we're doing Kliphuis that weekend, otherwise it would've been great and we could've been there longer.
