Replaced front discs at 231000km, cost met just under a R1000 at Gemini Spares, now my brakes dont pulsate at low speeds anymore.

This car has cost me R11000 on parts (R8000 for rear driveshaft because I am not happy with balancing done by local propshaft shops) from 210 000km towards 231000 and about R4000 for the 2 services incl labour and parts. Even at this mileage, it works out to around 80c per km on maintenance

Fuel is around R1.50 per km

Running at about R2.30 per km

So pas my 120 000 km diens laat doen deur Toyota. R7500-00.

My 160kkm service (which is the biggest service you can do on the Prado petrol) cost me R4500 incl Vat and front brake pads at Mackano 4x4.

Obviously weet julle waarheen ek myne vat..

whats the diff between a 120k km and 160k km service Both are major services with the same work being done unless they do something extra like change the timing chain. Can someone please explain.

AFAIK the 160k km service is a full lube service where they replace all fluids (brake, diff oil, transfer case oil, brake fluid, coolant, etc) and the 120k km is just a major service done every 40k km. My car's cambelt was replaced on 140k km.
Its 160k km service was recently done at Toyota Imperial in Jhb and cost R4800

    Cool, then R4200 sounds reasonable.

Ha immediate improvement in Fuel consumption!

The trip computer was permanently above 15l/100km normally about 16l/100 for in town driving. I reset it before leaving the garage and both last night and this morning was slow slow traffic and the trip computer is at ave 13.5l/100km.

An immediate saving of more than 1.5l/100km or a 10% reduction.

I know the trip computer is not accurate but such a clear change is obvious.
