Blombosch is a nice trail rated approx 2. Yes scenery and a lovely lapa with braai facilities. This overlooks a big pond with water birds. Hardly any rock but lots of sand and not too soft. If you are looking to try out some stuff , well you can pake a plan on the trail some where. But if you want to try out double lockers back, front and center, this isnt the place for you

Just thought I gave your guys feedback - a few of us went this weekend to Blombosch outside Yzerfontein, what a disappointment. I would not suggest anyone to go on this trail. First off all its not even worth R50, comparing to the R150 they asked. It was maybe 1hoo drive to do the whole track without the time we braai (Atleast that was great). There was no flowers and only bush to see.

These guys either have to make some obsticales or something otherwise I don't see this track to survive as I will tell everybody not to go and waste their money.

I haven't been there myself, but had a look at the website and it seemed to me that they're more geared towards upmarket conferences and such - conference facilities, no camping, etc - so I'd think the trail is the least of their priorities; a scenic drive at the best of times, which, incidentally, is a sunny day in August or September. But yes, I agree that they should charge less for the trail then, unless they'd rather prefer to limit, as I expect, day visitors from outside coming to do just the trail.

    Default a chilled trail

We did the trail yesterday in 3 vehicles, yes it is a chilled trail with some flowers. Rain has kept the tracks pretty solid. We enjoyed some time at the "snake pit" (small sandy quary, with some humps) teaching the ladies and new drivers how its done. Not a trail for hard core bush bashers but very good for soft roaders and newbies

If you do decide to go and you wouldn't mind me joining you, I'd like to go too! My camera (as distinct from the Pajero) needs some exercise...

No problem. In case you're interested, Buffelsfontein is further on - about 8 km past the Yzerfontein turn-off - to the right of the R27. There's a big entrance, which I can see clearly in Google Earth, so if you miss it...

Just some feedback on Blombosch and Buffelsfontein - did Blombosch on the Sunday 2 weeks ago and Buffelsfontein today. There is no comparison - Blombosch is, as described by a number of members, a nice scenic route with really no challenging bits at all. Buffelsfontein, however, is a different animal. Although still not very difficult, it has a lot more loose sand and some interesting little climbs up dunes - some around corners. It is much more fun, just a pity it is so short.

As far as pricing goes, I feel both are over priced - R150 for Blombosch and R210 for Buffelsfontein.

I did not check the time, but would be surprised if it was much more than 45 minutes (including stopping to let down my tyres!). It is only 14km's long - 7 the one way and then you go back to where you started.
