    Question Fortuner 4.0V6 Auto gearbox

Fortuner brochures and manual state the new 4.0 V6 has a 5 speed auto box, the chief mechanic at major dealership reckons it has a 4 speed box. The photo of the 4 speed gear shift console in the manual is matching the actual one in the vehicle whilst the gear indicator display on the instrumentation matches exactly the picture of the 5 speed display in the manual. O yes.and one other dealer is still trying to find an explanation. I am confused......

Also interesting that when you engage
L on the gearshift it indicates 2nd gear on instrumentation display, 2nd shows 3 on the display 3rd shows 4 and drive is obviously drive. It never displays L on the instrumentation display. technical people recons it is in 1st but display 2, if in 2nd.....never mind I am still baffled

I'm not surprised. Does anything work the way it should on a tuna?
My D4D indicates 27 degrees on the display when it's 22 inside the vehicle.

I think he is saying that it should be a lot lower outside??
Mine is pretty accurate, compared it to a BM,Audi,Yaris etc and it was the same.
My fuel consumption compute is very accurate.

Francois111 - the previous model Fortuner does indicate correctly and also have L-2 on the bottom shift panel where as the new Fortuner shift panel differs from this and does not have L-2 on the bottom shift panel....if this does make sense to anybody

The V6's have always been fitted with the 5 speed box since the 2005 launch.

L/2/3/4/D is the naming convention. Post a picture of your centre console, so that we can see what it looks like.

Problem resolved! Toyota Factory installed 4 speed gearbox shift cover in Swambo's Fortuner! Passed pre delivery inspection! They will change it next week.

Oh really? You think I adjust the climate control to 27 if it's 27 outside ?
I was referring to the display on the climate control not the info display.
