Default Pretoria to Nairobi via Mozambique

I have been following then advise and comments on the 7 day scramble from PTA to Nairobi but all is via Bots, Zam, Mal and Tanz. Any advise doing this through Moz, Tanz ?

I am planning this in mid Aug...same scenario as some of the other threads work part time in NBO and live in PTA, want my 4x4 in Nairobi .....lots of places to see and to do but cannot find a reliable 4x4 for a decent price in NBO.

I have not been outside the borders of SA, BOTS and Nam with my 4x4 - so this might be not a bright idea going through Moz and Tanz. Want to do the scenic 1 month going back next year July with the family.

As always I appreciate you taking the time to read and responding should you wish to do so.

If you want to do this route, it is (in my opinion) the nicest one to do to Nairobi - head straight up the coast, from Pemba head to Negomane and cross at the Unity 1 bridge (forget the crossing at the mouth of the Rovuma unless you want some serious heart attack moments), then go straight up the coast via Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Mombasa, then to Nairobi. It is a classic route and vastly underrated.

    Weve done that last year.
Its a days drive from Mocimboa da Praia to Masasi,
theres no sale of Third Party Insurance at the border,
you must buy it in Masasi.

The road is tared up to Mueda,
from there its a two spoor track
going over 9 or 10 bridges,
    the last one was broken.

    You need a 4x4.
If you don't have a Carnet de Passages,
it will take you at least one hour to enter Tanzania.

    From Mocimboa to Masasi

    From Masasi to Kilwa

If you are interested I can email you my tracks.

There is still a part of the road from Lindi to Dar
under construction which is very time consuming.

A very nice place to have a rest is Kilwa.
I can highly recommand the Kilwa Dreams Camp.
