Here's one of my own favourites... terribly cliche'd, but sticks with some of the rules. But still something wrong with it - other than the fact it's a sunset

The other one breaks some of the rules, but also a favourite...

Ek het hierdie foto geneem met 'n Nokia N73 sel foon by Land Rover Experience (Paarl) en al moet ek dit self se, ek dink dis blerrie mooi.

Moes dit kleiner maak om te kon laai op forum . . Die Kaap bly maar blerrie mooi ! ! !

Here is another one from me.

This photo was taken 2 months ago at MataMata campsite while the sun was setting. The items hanging on the line is the clothes of my 2y old that was very sick at the time. So it a bit of a sentimental shot.

I call it: Camping with Babies

Can we perhaps include a title for your photo as well as a short description?

I think it would be cool!

Cool Mushroom. Perhaps try to get the person at the back to move out of the photo. I also like the shallow deapth of field.

    Bongani

Missed this thread even though i suggested it

I will offer some critism and praise, just from a technical piont of view to get the crit side of the thread going.

The pic that jumps out the most is Beauty and the beast, very hard hitting and I think that zoomed out would have detracted from the flower... Any anti-4x4 lobby group would kill to have that on the front page of thier leaflet!!!!

jeeponly's picture of the lake obeys all the rules and shows that you don't need a fancy pancy camera to take great pics...

hobo: I would have excluded the forground as its un interesting and detracts from the main subject that is the trees, also when I have lines of things I try and bring that out more, so maybe going closer to the trees and trying to get the idea of the long line of tree disappearing into the background.

SimonB: I love the flutterby... the sunset I would have zoomed in like this to get the thirds lings going and exclude the dead forground and the excess sky

Ced:The way the horizon and the bottom of the umbrella line up breaks the picture for me.

Henk: I love that purple flower and the out of focus background really bring it out.

Anyway I hope this has got the idea of contructive criism going...

Now need to dig out some of my pics. I think that this is really a place to post pictures that you wanted to come out really nice but couldn't get it to come out right.

Quick: photoshops to show what I mean...

    Biggles
I would have liked to see all the pink flowers in focus and the back ground out of focus.

I like the centre placement of the flowers facing the viewer. It immediately draws the eye! Having the other flowers out of focus aid in drawing the eye again which contradicts my first statement.

Biggles: Bird Photo: What an amazing photo, to shoot it in the first place and focus etc. well done! IMHO, it lacks a focus point (i.e. I'd like to focus on the bird(s) but my eye is drawn to the tree)

Here's a few from me....most pics shot with a mik&druk digital cam....so it's not quite the same league as some of the other pics.

Sunset at the Bergplaas house in the Baviaans-Easter 2005

Baviaans area Sunday 11/08/07- (these 2 pics where shot with my Nokia E70)

    Elandsriver, PE - Fire 2005

    Stoney Ridge - December 2005

This little stream is only about 10cm wide.

One of my favourite Baviaans view points....Land's End on the Gonjah trail - October 2004
