Default Ian's4x4 - Aluminium canopy and drawer systems

Is there anybody on the forum that has dealt with these guys (located in Brackenfell ) . They seem very friendly and helpful . A friend of mine wants a "alu-cab" locally built and these guys are considered .

Their service is very good and Ian's quality is remarkable. I had my Disco drawer and fridge slide now also made at them and they're highly recommended.

Everything's custom designed so you can have something made exactly how you prefer it. I had a look at how they make allu canopies and it really looks good and neatly made.

    Hi almal,

Ek was al by Ian en sy gehalte is goed. Mense begin hom almal ondersteun agv sy prys en vakmansskap. Soos ek verstaan was hy eers by Burnco en toe op sy eie gegaan.

As far as I know Ian has closed the business near R&D. (unconfirmed still). He will however soon be starting from Hein's (Burnco) premised with a new business.

Surely he is not going to produce draw systems and canopys in Burnco s premises as they will be in competition then...Somethings up here send in Simon to investigate

I was at Burnco yesterday, was chatting to Hein about a canopy for my double cab. Very friendly guy who gave me lots of advice based on his own experiences.

Compared to Alu-Cab and Alu-Mat, I'm seriously thinking of going with his work.

I have alu canopy from Hein, no problem.
Ask for extra rib in roof if you want to load something on top.
Ask for two struts on back door, not one.
If using the flat black locks on side doors, remember there is a better one available than the ones in stock at Burnco. Same looks same everything, just bigger and more robust.
Also make sure who is going to do the work because the comrade who knew what he was doing left the service recently.
Otherwise good value for money and no problem with after sales service.

Buy the Alu-Cab if you can afford it. It is still the best quality and best known. Some day you'll have to sell it and it will be worth something. I've had mine for nearly 4 years, with plenty Bot/Nam trips, and it is as solid as the day I bought it. You can load them as well, 90kg RTT and over 80kg's of fuel, no problem. Since I put the Colt up for sale, I've had more requests for the canopy.

    Wink

Hoffie, with the price of aluminum going up i think an Alu cab would be a nice investment at the moment.
