    Hi all

It is with great excitement that I start my Malaria tablets today! Leaving for Etiopia in 10 days!

We are going to Ethiopia as part of word for the world.

Will send pictures and detail around middle June when I return!

It is going to be an epic trip! Unfortunately we are flying to Addis and not driving there!

    Cheers

Going to be spending plenty time there over the next couple of years with work as we expand our operations there. My first trip is in July, looking forward to learning of your experiences.

    Default Ethiopia June 2012

For many years now I have heard of the incredible work friends of mine does in rural Ethiopia, helping many tribes to translate the bible into their own language. they have told me many a wonderful story of how remote things can be and how difficult traveling can be especially in the raiy season. Jokingly I always said if an oportunity comes to join them let me know.

My friends have since moved on to Asia to do the same thing there but still asists the Ethiopian team to translate the Bible into 12 different Ethiopian languages. So 1 day the call came, three teams have finished their work we are are going to Southren Ethiopia to visit these three tribes and hand over about 25000 bibles to each tribe.

With trepidation and excitement I agreed and we booked flights to Addis without much knowledge of what layed ahead.

We spent 1 day in Addis Abbeba seeing what "word for the world does there and experiencing the crazy traffic of this bustling city.

Saturday Morning early eight land cruisers arived and we set off to "paradise lodge in Arba Minch" This lodge is situated above the town overlooking a piece of rain forest with two lakes on each side.

Traveling in convoy over 550 km on mostly bad tar roads and gravel took us just less than 12 hours due to mainly livestock and pedestrians in the road. we never did 100 metres without passing cows, goats donkeys or people in the middle of the road

The cruisers were fantastic especially the series 200's. The drivers from a company called "stone age" were incredible.

This first day blew me away with the beauty of Ethiopia ( all I saw was southern Ethiopia so I cant comment on the rest) Lush green subsistance farmers each with their own mealie field and little bluegum forest and some bananas.

First day eight vehicles 550 km each, only one flat tyre!
