Disco 2 TD5 ECU Remap

Hi All
I have been doing some research about remapping my 2003 disco 2 td5 es auto
and would like your help in making a decision, i understand that doing remap will likely shorten the life of the engine due to more pressure and strain on parts, i do know a madman with a egt monitor is also essential.
What i would like to find out from people in the know is what different types of maps are there, what benefits where there eg

Map: European Remap (just made this up)
Performance: + 30kw
Fuel Consumption: better urban - 10 open road -8 to the hundred
Egt: 5degrees Increase in operating temp
Installer: Landyonline, Torguetune, Steves Auto Clinc, landytech, etc
Cost: R3500
Kilos: 50000
Problems: None, nothing replaced
Opinion: Perfomance increase is great and i would do it again
How: It works by ticking the computer that is running cooler and is below sea level

If you don't know all the stuff still post some what you know, i am sure this will help td5 owners

Im also considering remapping my Td5 defender but tricking the ECU in thinking that its running at sae level and cooler temp would cause the ECU getting false feedback regarding the mass air flow and therefore under/over fuelling.
Isnt the remapping more in the line of altering the fuel maps or adjusting the time periods in which the injectors are injecting fuel?

Map: Custom Remap
Performance: Unknown, but I can spin a TD5 auto with muds now!
Fuel Consumption: Better, more torque and much quicker to get to lockup @ 90km/h
Egt: 50'C Increase in EGT Temp, none on cooling and head temps
Installer: UFix Goodwood via TorqTune
Cost: R4000
Kilos: 295000
Problems: None, already setup for full performance
Opinion: Better throttle response, torque is up, much smoother engine
How It works: Read your Map, send to TorqTune, 1h max later they send new custom file back, ECU get flashed with new map, you drive off smiling.

Hi all thanks for the responses, LRwit would you mind putting it in the format so we could all see clearly, have you tried any other maps?

Has any one tried the map from Bell Auto Services in the UK or Eurospeed map

I am also interested if people find alot more power past 3000rpm. Thanks All

Map: Torqtune + Unichip
Performance: It feels like DOUBLE that of a standard TD5
Fuel Consumption: 500km/tank but who cares really when you have so much under the foot...
Egt: no idea, can see my coolant temp rise rapidly at low rpms (1000 - 1500rpm) under load
Installer: Torqtune, Landytech (turbo and other mods), Steves Auto Clinic (Unichip)
Cost: R13500 for the Turbo, R4000 for Torqtune map, Cant remember SAC bill (that was around the year 2000)
Kilos: 120 000
Problems: Its still not enough! I just know there is still lots more...
Opinion: My brain still can not compute the power that comes out this 2.5L thing
How: VNT turbo boosts from 1250rpm already (0.5bar) and does not stop till 4000rpm, Torqtune and Unichip just adds more fuel.

Map: Solihull map from Denmark
Performance: Sorted out the 3 second turbo-lag
Fuel Consumption: 700-800 per tank
Egt: Can't really compare before / after (installed EGT at the same time), but it's 380 deg at cruise, no aircon, minimal load.
Installer: Solihuxx
Cost: R2500 in 2009
Kilos: 86,000
Problems: None, but will have to do the intercooler next.
Opinion: Well worth the spend
How: Waiting for the gurus to answer that one.
