    Hi hazelbag,

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 2.5tdi XLT 4x4 with just over 190K on the odo.
Before I replaced the injectors fuel consumption was 12.4L/100km (8.06km/L). After the injector replacement, 11.3L/100km (8.85km/L) AND my foot is a little heavy...

    Regards,

    Tobie

    Hi Tobie

Thanks for the reply, will it differ on a 4x2?
What range do you get on a tank? Will it be similar to a 2.5TDi Carvelle?

On my 2002 Ford Ranger 2.5tdi D/Cab XLT 4x4, I average 9.5km/L That is all round since I bought it in 2010.

Last week in Kruger park when driving around at 35Km/h in 4th gear I got 12.9 km/L.

When I towed a 3m long 750kg trailer in January I averaged about 7km/L all the way from Cape Town. That was at 100km/h in 4th gear. And it took me 19 hours. But my Gearbox is still 100% after 175 000km on the odo.

Ranger with 61 000 km on, lowest 7.9l/100 km, worst 16l/100km.
    Average over total use 10.8l/100km.
It is used very little in town/city driving, mostly towing Echo 4, open road and off road.

We travel at 100-110 km/h open road or towing, pushing it the consumption get worse.

Ranger 2.5; 4x4xlt with canopy doing 160k on the clock...did a round trip to knysna from cape town. Avg: 8.5ltr/100km.
    local town/urban driving: 10ltr/100km.

Feel i get slightly better consumption on 500ppm...but 50ppm seems smoother and better power delivery.

Sounds if we drive the same car. Ditto on the fuel consumption.

Question to anyone out there, my Ranger gives me 7km/l driving 130km and about 7.8 driving 115km. Sent in today to diesel pump guys and been told pump pressure is very low and injectors are faulty(vehicle has been down on power and blowing black smoke).

Question...will repairing this give better consumption or not...?? Some have said it might and some not. I know if its over fueling the motor runs hotter which is not what we want!!

My pump and injectors have been taken out for calibration and pump needs new vanes whatever that is since the pump pressure was very low and apparently injectors are buggered. Vehicle has 240k on the clock and dnt know when last anything was done on it. Hopefully she will pull better when this is done......only problem now is that the set of Big Horns I was eyeing out for next week are going to have to wait a while

I know the feeling. I was shocked on how much better my bakkie was after the injectors was replaced. The only problem I had was that the fuel consumption on the first tank after the injectors, out the window. You must see the look on a guys face driving a 250cc bike when a diesel bakkie stays next to it between traffic lights.

That was all good fun but after I fitted the 31s the weekend, I just had to calm down...

I have a 3.0 xlt super cab and a 2.5 single cab, both 4x2 the consumption is very similar, but when I tow the 3.0 is lighter on the juice, but still no big diffirence, the big diff comes in when you drive at 140+ km/h then the 3.0 is quite a bit lighter.
If it was fun to break, fix it and break it again.

The 2.5 is nogal sensetive about injectors, you loose both performance and consumption, which you only relise after you had them done, mine is currently at the "pomp okes"
