Default CDL kit for Disco 2

I own a 2002 TD5 Disco 2 - without the CDL goodies on and inside the TC ! I believe there is kit that you can buy, to fit onto the existig Transfer Case to convert it to a CDL unit ? Does anyone have any experience/information on this ? What are my other options to convert the TC to a CDL unit? I also would need the difflock gear lever and linkages !

Have you been thru the STICKY above ??

Make sure you have the box with the little spigot as explained in Disco 2 CDL info.
I am leaving for a few weeks to Kalahari on Sunday, when i get back i am doing the conversion to disengage TC and change into Diff Lock. But i don't have a spigot so the box will come out and a slight mod made, easy job for the Indy.
It is just a little spigot thingy that gets fitted into your box (if it is not in place). With a home made or bought lever.
    Cant be more than R2000.
Please keep me updated if you can purchase goodies.

Might be worth looking for a 2nd hand transfer case?
    I'm looking for a T/C for a defender,so I'll keep my ears open?

Someone on the forum was designing a solenoid thingy-me-doo-dad for the CDL. What happened to that?

Please do keep your eyes and ears open for a good TC with the CDL for a Disco 2 - If all else fails, I will order the kit from Ashcroft - but in the meantime I thought it would be cheaper to find something local! My nearest indy is also about 200km from me - making the job more of a DIY, than a an indy or stelers job!

    My earlier thread
    http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...d.php?t=100021

There is no cost effective alternative that looks factory standard. Ashcroft the only one and it costs. Plenty of alternatives that are cheap but it does look exactly standard.

    1) Ashcroft

    2) Twisting type, connect a bunch of 1/4 inch socket set uv's and connectors to a gear lever, make it poke troough the transmission tunnel to activate by twisting it:
    http://www.erikburrows.com/index.php...is+CDL+Linkage

    3) D1 lever into D2
    http://www.discovery2.co.uk/D1_to_D2_cdl.html

    4) Example of a guy that did it with two shifting levers side by side:
    http://britautorepair.com/landrover_cdl_install.htm

    5) and a guy on AULRO called Hendrik that adapted an existing lever to activate CDL
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...-cdl-d2-3.html
Wonder if he is from SA with a name like that...

I have a few ideas of my own, for option 5. I just need a non CDL high low lever to see if it is possible. There should be a few around since the guys throw it out.
