Thank you Jako. I was enjoying reading you posts. Your English is very good. Much much better than my Afrikaans where I have only two words.

I look forward to more of your posts on this

Hey guys. How much would the miskruier set you back with an average to full spec?

    Hi guys,
I am also now the proud owner of a Miskruier, received mine on 03/04/2012, went and tested it over Easter at Witteberg Private Nature Reserve (see Drive Out - Diep en Deur 4 x 4 trail), can honestly say that I was very surprised when we arrived there on Friday, towing was similar to my 6ft Venter full of wood, hardly noticed it behind the Colt, setting up camp was a breeze even in very strong winds, no dust inside while travelling on the dirt road from N1 to campsite that I could pick up, was to excited to time set-up - will do it next time. Then it started raining on Saturday with driving wind, even more surprised, no leaks. Breaking up camp was also a wonderful experience - never had it so easy. Congratulations to Jannie and the team at Bush Lapa. Can't wait for next trip next weekend.

    Hi Dps,
Contact Jannie at www.bushlapa.com for a comprehensive price list, there are various add-ons, depending on what you already have, you determine the final price. He accomodated me by even removing certain 'inclusive' items which I already own

Welcome to the Bush Lapa family Sebastiaan! Yes, your Miskruier will keep on surprising you . Your wife is clearly smitten . I'm looking forward to some more feedback.

    Happy camping!

The wife and I finally got round to transferring our camping gear to the Miskruier this weekend. We packed and repacked and eventually had to rush off to the shops to buy some extra stuff before we were able to fill the caravan. It really has deceptively much space for it's size.

The kitchen unit with the cookware drawer beneath the stove took all the pots and pans and then some. Everything is within easy reach at the flick of a panel. The panel that opens down to access the kitchen is really at a perfect height for us as a workspace area.

In addition to my 2 gasbottles and Alva gas camping shower that Jannie fitted in the nosebox, I stuffed quite a lot of extra gear in there as well.

The compartment that houses the fridge slide, the stove and the cookware drawer, also had extra space for a braai grid, 2 ammo boxes (those with the high lids), a 25 litre water can (meaning that the 100 litre stainless steel water tank in the under carriage is purely for showering), a 15m hosepipe with it's fittings, a shower cubicle and 2 x 6m windbreaker sails with it's poles, ropes and pegs.

The storage compartment under the side-bed now has all the side skirting sails of the L-shape tent, 2 big groundsheets, tent pegs, ropes & straps and a 30m extension 220V cable.

The top of the nosebox, which is flat and has 4 anchor points, takes 2 BIG (like 50kg "voersakke" big) bags of wood.

Our 1.8m caterers table (which folds in half), the 2 tier twin basin wash-up stand (a present to my 2 teenage daughters) and 4 camping chairs will fit nicely on the floor of the Miskruier, but then the double cab's loadbin will only have to carry recovery equipment. And if anyone wonders why recovery equipment is necessary on a caravan trip, I will probably take the Miskruier along on a 4x4 obstacle course at the rate it is impressing me.

    So far, so good, still.

When I sold my Commander, I had this huge pile of gear on my garage floor while I waited for the Miskruier and I thought.....no way will I be able to fit this into the Miskruier! Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I chose the full nose cone - not the one with the 2 jerry cans in the middle. I ended up with more space than I needed. Have you tried to fill that grocery cupboard ? The problem with all the space is that one tend to start taking gear you do not really need or use often. The 4 clothing compartments are misleading as well. My wife, daughter (19) and son (13) manage to fill theirs for a 2 week trip but mine is only about half full . Why do one always take too much clothes .

I just realised that I do not actually have many photos of the Miskruier . These are over and above all the other pictures I posted HERE.

I intend posting some pictures after our first outing with the Miskruier this coming long weekend to the Cederberg.

Eruard, FYI, the Miskruier will be behind my almost purchased 3.2 auto Triton.

Good news for you Schoemie.......Bush Lapa now offers a trade in option . They have a section on their website for pre-owned equipment and I see the Explorer they had as a trade in, has since been sold. Bring your Commander with for the visit.........you will leave without it

Lateral thinking at its best! No wonder this is such a great product and why it is making such waves in the 4x4 caravaning industry!

Here is some of our photos with the FJ and the Miskruier:

    Michael,

Where is this beautiful campsite that is so close to the beach? How about a Miskruier camp weekend there? Get Jannie to sponsor the beer...

Willem, those were taken at Storms River mouth (Tsitsikamma - part of SANParks) +- 80 km's on the other side of Plet. We have been going there over Dec / Jan for the last 13 years. The rest of the year we try and do new places at least once a month. The photos on THIS thread was also taken close to the sea. This (Tietiesbaai) is maybe a better option . One could however run into some weird characters there .

I think Jannie is working his fingers to the bone keeping up with demand... Sorry for hijacking your thread Jaco. At least it is still Miskruier related...........well sort of....
