Remove the said unit and replace it with the standard oil filter unit, or wait for the import one to be sent to you, its your call, as you cant re size the thread, as the filer thread will no longer fit.

I decided to service my owm Pajero over the weekend. Everything went as it should until I wanted to take off the oil filter. It was stuck like glue. With a lot of effort it came free, but it was very tight all the way screwing it out. On closer investigation it seems the workshop had put it on skew and had to over tighten it to get a good seal. But the problem is that it damaged the oil filter bracket thread, the threaded pipe which screws into the filter. So the new filter does not want to go on easily.
I have taken a nut of the same size and screwed that onto the bracket to see if I cannot get the thread corrected, but the filter is still very tight going on and gets stuck half way up. I do not want to strip the filter thread also.
I phoned Pajero and they say the whole oil filter bracket housing must be replaced. which is not only the inconvenience, but also the fact that it is special import. They say I cannot merely screw out the pipe and replace that.
anyone had this problem before? how can i fix this?
I have a 3.5 petrol Gen 3.
