Question Problems booking Kgalagadi, June 2012

    Hello!
We would love to spend June in the Kgalagadi, but it looks like we are a bit too late with our booking. I managed to get the following:
    9-15: Mabusuahube area
    16-17: Nossob
    18-23: Swartpan area
After the Swartpan area we need to stay at Nossob on the 24th, but reservations tells me there is no space. Is there anyone who wouldn't mind if we camp next to you? It's just our car with rooftop tent.

Next question: we would love to do the Polentswa trail as well, but apparently fully booked in June. I'll hear next week if there are any cancellations... Is there anyone who doesn't mind us joining in on your booking? We're looking at: 5/6/7 June or 24/25/26 June, but are open for other dates!
Same applies to Rooiputs: anyone interested in us joining in?

    Hope you can help.
    Regards,
    Evelyn

    Evelyn,
Sorry to hear that Kgalagadi is so popular lately.
Just a short remark about the Polentswa trail:
You need at least 2 vehicles to do the trail, single is not allowed.
In case you don't succeed to find somebody ahead of your trip, post a message at the gate in Twee Rivieren and Nossob and check if you can do something short term when already in the park.

Kgalagadi -- Must book a year ahead.

Do hope you are successful finding a spot.

    Thanks guys!
The title of my post was not really correct. What a pleasure to deal with the Gabarone office of the DWNP. I spoke to two ladies, both very friendly and within a few days everything was confirmed by email and paid. We didn't need a booking agent to do this!
Our main problem is that I can book the Polentswa Trail if I have a second car joining me. Anyone interested on 4/5/6 June 2012? Hope so!

    Evelyn.
I'm glad to hear you had no problems with the Gab offices. I, on the other hand, have been trying for weeks now to phone, mail and fax them. I received an incorrect preliminary booking on reply to one of my e-mails, but that's it. I'm now thinking of sommer paying this booking and hoping to be able to change it later.
Does anyone know whether there is any method of payment to the DWNP, other than the credit card authorisation you need to fill out? Not sure I'm comfortable with that!

    Thanks

Dan - I share your views about credit cards but I have not heard of anyone who has had problems.

    Hi Dan,
You have to keep phoning Gabs office. It took me 2 weeks of solidly phoning and never giving up.
    Good luck.

Thanks! I'll persist. Maybe I'll spend all the credit in my cc, before Gabs get hold of it.

Dan, use the credit card authorization form, we have been paying DWPN like that for a couple of times and nothing funny. A swift transfer will cost you a fortune!

    Hi Dan,
I phoned +2673971405 or +2673180774, phoned at different times, but especially around 8 AM you get through quite easy. Good luck!

Finally, I did it! I managed to reach the Gabs office! And after a 50 minute wait, while the receprionist keeps on repeating "All lines at reservations are busy, please hold on", I think she got embarresed and put the phone back on the hook.

I NEARLY did it (by phone) and then I got a reply by e-mail on the fax I sent! WOW!!!!! That looks like the best way to communicate. Now I sent the cc authorisation and I'm keeping an eye on my cc balance

For other looking to do bookings, FAX!!!!!!!!! Here's the nr: 00267-3180075.

    Good Luck!
