Default 2.5td Cutting out when excellerating

    Hi All,

I need help on this one. Diesel Cutting out.

My xj started to cut out when i accellerate. as if no fuel is coming to the engine. at first i thought it is the diesel filter. replaced it and it went good for a week or so. again it starts to cut out and go again.
I took of the fuel tank, looking for dirt in the tank. no luck. all looks good. it is now about 20000km later and stil problems exist. at times the xj runs well for a couple of weeks, and then it starts again. some times i cant get to the 2000 rpm when it does the stund.

I have thought it is a filter, but not. tested by disconecting the filter assesmbly and directly supply fuel from tank. same problem.
Took of the tank about 4 times, searching for problems, taken out filters in the tank that could possibly cause a fuel starvation.

    What can be wrong?
Any suggestions - yes i have thought about fixing it with a Match.

Check the cranck positioning sensor/engine speed sensor. Rh side where the engine and belhousing meet. It attaches with 2 screws. Could be loose or cracked or wiring broken.
MAF will let you go into limp mode.

    Bundutoe, twee moontlike foute:
    1. 1st diesel injector het 'n sensor wat pulse aan die ecu gee
    http://forum.difflock.com/viewtopic....5bf1abdf91ff6b

    2. Air flow sensor, tussen die lugfilter en enjin, is foutief. Dit gee 'n puls aan die pomp in die tenk om meer diesel te lewer.

    Hoop dit help

    HI,

    Thanks for the Advise.
I do belief it is the Crank sensor as for my jeep does go intio limp mode. it cuts and then go again.
I have washed the area clean where the Sensor is, an now she does not want to start. I will investigate the wireing after i have stripped of all the parts in my way.

There is no fuel pump in the tank only the pump on the engine.

Crank positioning sensor makes for funny symptoms when it starts packing up. Glad its fixed!
