I heard chalets are fully booked. Lots of thorn trees so bring flip-flops for kids. Ablutions really great but lots of mosquitos. Supertube R2/slide, R50 for day, or R100 for week. Runs depending on demand. There is a game drive but we didn't get onto that this time around.

Would definitely go back again. Take it easy on the road once leaving N1. Nutjobs on the road as per usual.

We saw some campers in bush on one of our walks.... got any photos of your site? Ablutions?

Stands definitely get cramped when place is full in regular camp. I also didn't like the change from grass to paving areas.

Great so far. Nice and quiet, big green grass areas, lots of trees. Next to river with good bird life. Cold and hot pools, playground, shop etc.
Bathrooms super clean. Will do 4x4 later.

Ok so I did the 4x4 track with some of the locals, couple if woes okes with mining bakkies and beers. I did not drink anything, forum sticker on the window. The pajero impressed once again with its traction control. Had a great morning. Now to start the mutton and peach brandy potjie.

Thumbs up Re: So who is going camping this weekend?

Camped at Willem's Rus this last weekend; the caravan park is in the Dinokeng Big Five Game Reserve. Only Big 5 I saw was a lone Fortuner, a white Land Rover, a Land Cruiser (I think), a herd of Hiluxes, and..... my Audi A4.

Really nice resort, refreshing pool, great bathrooms, couple of power problems from Eskom side, 25 stands, best braai I have ever used, and a couple of VERY long, sharp thorns.

Would go back again... just those corrugations on the gravel road were terrible. Should I air down my platkar tyres next time?

Yeah, but every time we go camping you want a 40 page trip report. Bugger off I am busy.

Ran up to Pilansberg Sat morning, just for the night. Usual great sightings of Rhino, Lion and a pack of Wild dog. Just for fun we grabbed a caravan site instead of the usual camping spot. Good move as we could walk easily to the ablutions and restaurant. No chicken in a bag this weekend. Instead we had a really good Kudu steak. The ablutions at Manyane have had a makeover since we were last there. Clean, new tiles, glass doors on the showers, granite tops. Very good. This time around it was quite quiet, so we made all the noise. Some roads recently graded.

The sad part was the lack of water, the water holes were well attended by the plains animals and if you were lucky you got to see predators there too. The highlight, 11 Wild dogs, saw them both days
Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

Heading to ATKV Buffelspoort this weekend for the annual family gathering. Will also be the first camp with the Defender, and it's taking quite a bit of time to figure out how to fit everything SWAMBO wants to drag along in the alu canopy, especially now that a massive fridge/freezer is taking up more than 30% of the packing space.

Weekend of 26 February, we'll be camping at Kokoriba for our wedding anniversary. We got engaged there when they still had the uitkyk tower next to the dam. They've since sold off that part of the farm, but fond memories nonetheless.
