I have one of these 21l Snowmaster, a bit pricey but works well . 30cm wide 32cm high and 60cm long. I use it in the car mainly, it is 12v only but I have a 220v power supply for home use.

Thanks for your post Andrew. It is quite expensive, but it seems it is the best option..

On AC Direct they say the following about this product:

    • Offers the convenience of both 12 or 24 Volt DC power and 100 to 240 Volt AC.
    • Able to efficiently cool in extreme temperatures and tough conditions.
    • Offers handy USB ports for charging mobile devices.
    • 12 Volt Only.
    • 35W Compressor.

It does not make sense to me??

Assuming it is only 12 volt, what do you mean by : "but I have a 220v power supply for home use"... Do you use some kind of adaptor that converts the 220v to 12v?... where did you buy this 'adapter'?

    Thanks!
    Henk

The unit is 12v only and no USB charging port . I made my own 220v to 12v 10 amp power supply with a Hella plug which I bought from ACDC and just made a wooden box with small computer fan for cooling.

    Thanks Andrew.

I am going to order one of these tomorrow, but I really need to be able to use 220v when possible.

I will send you a private message about the adaptor, if you do not mind.

    Keep well,
    Henk

Or you could buy this: https://www.takealot.com/20amp-12v-d...r/PLID41667542
    Not expensive.
I have two of them and they work well for me.

Edit: The power supply itself has a connector strip, so you would still need a mains cable with mains plug and a cable to connect the 12V to the freezer.

I use 220/12v psu on my large and small freezers. I bought mine from Outdoor. The small ones build for using in vehicles between the seats, that is why they are 12v.

Got one of these at Kloppers in PE to use as a fridge along with my 40l Engel as a Freezer for R5.5K (was very lucky on the price).

I was using the Engel to freeze water to feed a cooler box (not a very good one), but the Engel couldn't keep up at 45 degrees ambient on the Namibian border. I am not sure a better cooler box would have helped all that much.

This little beast only draws 35 watts when running, so was a perfect companion and fitted the space available given my setup in the Landy.

    Very pleased.
