    Default Eastco Magalies

Hi, I am a newbie on the forum and this is my very first post. We went to Eastco Magalies at the beginning of the year during the week. It was very pleasant except that we could hear the traffic from the road at night. But perhaps its busier over weekends so you might not hear it. They were busy building the warm pool then so it should now be completed. I believe that no matter what people say on the forum, although some suggestions and opinions are helpful, you should go and experience places for yourself and form your own opinion.

Eastco was ok, the campsite has a cold pool with a long slide for the kiddies and a warm indoor pool, the indoor pool was not very warm at all, there is also trampolines and a jungle gym for the kids. The ablutions are ok, nothing to get too excited about, the showers are decent size, the women complained of water only being slightly warm, not even luke warm so having a shower in the cold was not good for them, the mens had hot water. There is a store, didn't look around, we only bought fire wood, as it was FREEZING! I recon its got the basics, but Magaliesburg is only 6 or 7 kms away anyway.
The highway is a pain, it seems the traffic never stops, you hear the trucks running up and down into the night. The 4x4 track/game viewing is a little fun, not anything hectic, not even grade 2 I would guess and the game are very skittish, so you don't get close enough to take decent photos. It is very lekker that each campsite has a level concrete block to park your caravan, but it can be a pain getting all your pegs in as a mate discovered with his camping trailer, we did alright with the caravan. The shade nets over the campsites are nice as shade/trees are few and far between but you don't notice that as everyone has shade anyway. The fishihng was poor, the entire weekend no-one at our camp (5 families) caught anything
TBH I wont go back there, but we had a good weekend with friends and bush TV, just what the Dr ordered

Oh and, I was a little nervous as there is an informal settlement basically across the road, and the owners dogs are cheeky and steal food, jump in cars and help themselves to anything around. Take some extra carrots and apples and get the kids to feed the donkeys at the fence, and beware of the stray cats, they too are a menace at night after dinner digging through anything that smells good, there were also some buck of sorts that came into camp in the middle of the night and also dug through the rubbish and stole our butter hahahah
