Looking for suggestions for this weekend......

I'm trying to take my Aussie colleague for his first night in the bush, looking for something close to Joburg-maybe Dinokeng (Willmensrus haven't bothered replying, and Kyleu is full) that will be able to take a last minute booking.

    Any recommendations?

    TIA

    Liam

Willem's Rus is always best just to phone, don't bother with email

Define "close to JHB", how many hours' drive?

Otherwise, Somabula maybe (don't know if you'll get space).

feedback on the weekend's camping, IMHO the drive over the three mountain passes to the campsite is better than the Bavaiaans drive, the cold was there as expected, minus 2 degrees at 9:30 am , one hour 15 minutes of sunshine did nothing to heat up the place, had to use a gas heater in the toilet area to prevent you know what's from freezing, we will try the campsite in summer next to get a comparison. the Hosts, Eric and lee-Ann are wonderful people and provide more than is necessary .

We were at Keilu in Dinokeng this weekend, what an amazing place. no fences around the camp so game it free to roam, felt like we were back in the Okavango without the mozzies on Saturday night we had lions in the camp (apparently they killed a zebra near the river ) the owner and staff couldn't do enough for us, thank you. this is truly a jem only an hour and a half from JHB

3x Lovely grassed campsites all 200m apart each with own bathroom and outside kitchen.
Half hour drive to Cederberg wines, 4x4 routes close by, nice walks, swimming in summer and a restaurant at the Lodge.
Peaceful, quiet, not many birds, children could be bored.
Very cold after sun set - tested the tin can heaters with coals under our chairs - they worked :)
