Default looking for a cheap roof rack and/or tow bar for my musso 203EL

    Hi,
i am a international volunteer and recently bought a Musso 203EL.
    Could be used/second hand.
Can someone help me where i could get the most affordable roof rack for the Musso. LA sport here in Pretoria wants 6000 Rand. Is there no cheaper option?

    regards
    and thank you

    Hi

The African Outback Products are also round about that price with the mountings.

    Mine was also R6000

I think the only way you will get it cheaper is if you get one secondhand.

    Good luck.

How does your roofrack mount on your roof

You drive a Korando I think

does it mount the same way as the Musso

a Pic of the mountings will help

    Hi Koot

The roofrack is mounted in the gutters, but they do drill holes in the roof. I was very against this and wanted to do my own design. But with time constraints before our Namibia trip I had it done.

I am very glad they mounted it. The stresses on the mountings on the bad corrigations would have worked against my design. Not to mention the jump on the dirt road with all four wheels in the air.

    Attached are a few foto's.

    Keep well

Hi Istvan, see this is your first post, so welcome. Tried to find out more about you, but your profile is empty. Can we assume from the name you come from somewhere in Eastern Europe?
Tell us more about your voluntary service, this may encourage people to help you
Anyway, does your Musso have a roof rack track/groove on it?

    Default Some more details ;)

    Hi,
thank your for the warm welcome.
Indeed there is a hungarian history behind this name. But I was born right on the austrian/german border and now I am working in south africa for a organisation that is concerned with helping local governments and municpalities with the challenges of the diverse structure in SA (esp. in the field of ICT, IT etc).
I will be here for 2 years and my Musso does not have any rail or preparation for a roof rack.
The 4x4 echo told me that they would bolt a rail on the roof.
But 6000 Rand is a lot of money for me ;(

Perhaps someone can help me to find a cheaper way to get a roof rack and/or a tow bar.

    Cheers,
    istvan

    Hi Istvan

The imported Mussos does not have any gutters to fit a roof rack - you will have to fit a track. I bought my Front Runner roofrack with new tracks for R3700 a few years ago.

The alternative is to build one - I might consider selling mine as I want to design/build my own - one that will allow me to still open and enjoy the sunroof. . Make me an offer...
