Default How should I drive my car?

I have noticed that my L/C 200 diesel stays in 5th gear up to app 125km before changing to 6th.

When accelerating past 125km mark and then de-accelerate it stays in 6th while cruising on a relative flat road without up hills. I have tested it down to about 80km/h and it stays in 6th if the throttle is kept constant. In 5 th gear at 120km/h the revs are app 2 250rpm’s while in 6th gear they drop to app 1800rpm.
The car is new and I have only done about 1000km, but will leave Saturday for Cape Town. Large portion of this road is relative flat. Also there are distances with speed limits of 100 and 80km/h.
For economical reasons must I rely on the car to do the selection or should I rather try and drop the revs as low as possible? (I know driving a V8 economics should not be the main factor of concern)
Can the low revs harm the gearbox?

Drive it in such a way that the revs come down as much as possible. The auto box should change down before the revs are low enough to damage anything, so I don't think you need to worry about it. You'll probably find that, as the components loosen up after a few 1000 km, the box will change up sooner.

Ja maybe you should drive the vehicle inside the speed limit and also give it a chance to wear in properly before you try and test the factory warranty.

Can 125km/h be that harmful for the vehicle?
