    Thumbs down Riviersonderend trail

We tried to do this 4x4 trail on THE summer day on Frid after reading about it in the WEGRY Bakgat 4x4 roete boekie.Firstly, we could not find the start as it is signposted as Kromrivier 4x4.We were met by the "foreman" on foot on the main road and he gave us a map.The tracks which had long last had traffic, had no signposts. We had to get out to check where each track led. After the "campsite" and house next to the stream,we could do only another 400m in dense bush before coming to a full stop and reversing to find a turning spot.No maintenance or checking had been done.Fortunately there was no charge, but would have cost R450.

Are you serious, a 4x4 trail that costs R450

Is that just the trail, is it for one day only, and are there any camping fees included in that price?
If you struggled with finding the right route, I take it, it did not even include a guide??

I charged R250 per vehicle to guide groups on a trail, I recce'd the trail before taking the group there and I cleared it if need be....and still people moaned so much about the price behind back, I stopped doing it. BTW, my R250 included the their R150 trail fee.

    Default Riviersonderend Trail

I might have heard wrong, but when she said price ,I said "that's too much".I told the lady I was from the Kleinmond Bird club and just wanted to check out the birds so I didn't need to pay.No info about facilities on the map-just a mention of a "lodge" where people could stay.
