Suspension Re: Amarok disc brake retrofit

The electronic systems on any modern car are incredibly complex and do not work in isolation of each other. You can’t just change one system and assume everything will just work, you may get lucky...

Re: Your Diesel: RPM at 120km/h

don’t really see any direct connection between longevity and gearing. Modern cars tend to have much higher top speeds therefore need longer gearing to achieve those speeds. Q7 is limited to 250...

Suspension Re: Amarok disc brake retrofit

What is the purpose of changing? A lot of effort and money to get this working properly.

If the aim is better braking just upgrade the front to powerbrake disks. Up to 75% of your braking is done...

very much related to bolt size. HPFP is 6mm bolts if I recall correctly, very easy to over tighten and stretch them even with a normal ratchet. The brake caliper bolts are massive, you will need a...

    Re: Another Touareg autobox story...

Very happy to hear you came right with the gearbox repair. That valve chest is very daunting when you open it, but if you work methodically its not a difficult job.

    On your fuel consumption, have...

    Long distance cruising

I was reminded yesterday again just what an awesome long distance cruiser the Q7/Touareg/Cayenne platform is. Due to the looming shut down I had to drive knysna - Hillcrest in one go to drop my...

Re: Touareg - newer V6 diesel vs older V8 diesel

congrats, you will not be sorry,

did 1300km in the last 2 days and it reminded me yet again just how good that V8 is at long distance cruising. At 130 you are idling at 1700rpm and a tickle on the...

Re: Prince Alfred pass in March

did the pass this morning, it really is a stunning road but definitely not something I’d tackle in a normal platkar just from a comfort point of view.

It may have been the recent rains but the...

Re: Power upgrade on race car

Remember this is an extremely niche setup. In a road car, even a performance orientated road car the engine must be usable through its whole RPM range for everyday use. On a race car I do not care at...

    Re: Turbo diesel manifolds

weet nie wat die syfer is, maar sal verbaas wees as dit so hoog soos 10% is. Baie fabrieks diesels kom uit met log tioe manifolds

divided manifold is beslis beter, vraag is hoeveel beter?

As jy die tyd en skill het, bou n divided header maar daar is niks fout met ‘n log tipe manifold nie veral nie op n diesel nie.

    Re: Bitdi Consumption

life’s too short to be puttering around trying to save fuel.

Doubt the autobox add to fuel consumption (assuming it has lockup clutches in all gears?) so should be comparable to a manual box.
  21. Re: Global NCAP zero stars for the 2019 Nissan NP300 Hardbody

Why ashamed, did they hide the safety rating of the car? People dont have to accept unsafe cars... buy something else and market forces will dictate that manufacturers need to sell safer cars.

    Re: ASPW on intercoolers....

Power is a function of torque and rpm and there is a simple formula for it.

Re: Power upgrade on race car
