    Re: 2F gearbox on a 4.5 EFI

I'm sure you are right. It might fit though, since there is a lot of backward compatibility with the older cruisers.
I'm not sure it would make sense however, since the H42 gearbox might not be able...

    Re: Toyota H260 Gearbox

Yes, I hear you. 15 years ago, when I bought the 60 series I was told that overdrive gearbox is weak and I shouldn't expect it to last more than a few more years. Now I have treated it well and it...

    Re: 2F gearbox on a 4.5 EFI

It should fit the 3F, since the 3F's 5 speed gearbox fits onto the 2F.

    Re: Toyota H260 Gearbox

Grips, my FJ60 2F came out with a 4 speed gearbox. Some British company made overdrive gearboxes for those Cruisers, aftermarket. It sits on the normal gearbox and you got an additional lever next to...

Re: Would you buy a Fortuner 4.0?

Interesting, according to Toyota SA website the Fortuner V6 still got a 15k km service cycle, while the Hilux witht the same engine states 10k km.

Re: Kumho vs Wrangler vs General Grabber

It means the entire tyre carcass is more sturdy than the that of the P rated version.
It would still be a 2 ply sidewall though, yet a stronger one.

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol

Thanks for that advice. I have tried it on my FJ, I used the pressure Toyota recommends about 2.3 bar on tar. Now after reading your post I pumped to 2.8 bar. Result is noticeably lower rolling...

Re: Would you buy a Fortuner 4.0?

Are you sure about the service intervals? Because the 1GR-FE in the Prado & FJ Cruiser have 10k km service intervals same as the V6 Hilux.
  11. Re: Mobi Lodge met n 4Motion Transporter deur Afrika

The DSG gearbox isn't ideal for towing, certainly not for heavy towing.

  14. Re: what tyres are being used and recommended on North western Namibia bad gravel ro

Farmers in that area have been using Nankang FT-7 with great success for many years. I have spoken to some of them and the general opinion was, they were pretty fed up with BFG KO tyres. Too many...

And why would you want to potentially spread the corona virus throughout Namibia and Botswana?
  17. Re: first confirmed corona cases, travel ban in effect.

That's very nice of the Belgian embassy. Family of ours is trying to get back to Canada. The Canadian embassy tells them straight "you are on your own"!
  18. Re: first confirmed corona cases, travel ban in effect.

Yes, cross border travel is restricted. Within the country, there are no restrictions. In the same sentence mentioning leisure travel, they are talking about Namibian expats to postpone visits to...
  19. Re: first confirmed corona cases, travel ban in effect.

Flights are not affected yet, but Namibians aren't supposed to leave the country.
  20. Re: first confirmed corona cases, travel ban in effect.

Namibian residents have been banned from leaving the country. We can still travel freely within Namibia. Non residents are free to leave the country, if they so wish and if they have the opportunity....

Even though I do agree with your thoughts, that there shouldn't be such a large difference in price for 2 similar products, it might simply come down to parts availability and reputation. The prices...

I'm sure in that price range there would have been a bit choice. Not even BFG or Coopers are that expensive. ;D

You did the reservation through booking dot com. Certainly you would have to do the cancellation through that service, too? If I remember correctly, their refund procedure is a bit time consuming....
  25. Re: Land Cruiser 4.2 1HZ Double cab speed uphill?

You won't need an EGT gauge, just understand old school diesel engines: they don't have a throttle restricting air intake and run on excess air / lean mixture. Engine power is controlled by the...

Isn't that just applicable to tyres with a unidirectional tread pattern?
Even tyre manufacturers like Bridgestone recommend cross rotation in general and I think it's pretty hard to find anything...

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol

It should get better over time. The problem is, the outer tread blocks make little steps, as the leading edge I think wears faster than the trailing edge of each block, if not rotated frequently....

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol

Try to cross rotate them. The outer tread blocks leading and trailing edges wear differently, which causes the noise.
Only way to remedy that is to swap tyres around so they run in a different...
