Re: Do you like the new Defender?

I see the Defender X will be around 80,000 GBP at launch - that's R2 million after import duties.

    Re: Is this it?

And a D5 is 2.2 tons. But HP is not the point, the Defender was always a light and relatively nimble vehicle and this helped it off-road, adding 300kgís takes away that USP.

    Does having a 500hp...

More of an issue is why they only accept the green ID book, thatís...

Re: Pretoria to Ponta du Oura

I'd do both, purely because if you haven't been over the new Catembe bridge you really should. And driving through rural Zululand has its own charm.

At launch 3 litre petrol and 2 litre diesel - more to follow later. I'm sure a 3 litre diesel is on the cards, probably a 2 litre petrol too.

    Re: Is this it?

I'm impressed, would like to see the full range of colours - Keswick Green, white roof and steelies in a manual would be my choice. Not a fan of the wheel sizes though.

Urikaruus to Nossob - 4/5 hours

Re: Hilux V6 performance and fuel

Changing Maxxis to BFG will make neglible difference, slowing down is the only way to get better consumption (as already advised).

    JWR,

Out of interest if one does the conversion what are the revs at 120km/h? On the standard box they are about 3,000rpm.

Not that you would take a website as gospel, but the ratios certainly haven't changed on the TSA website.

If you are towing a heavy load don't consider the 79 V6. I have one and on the odd occasion I have to tow it's really not good.

Otherwise it's a great bush / weekend vehicle.

    In my opinion the...

  30. Re: Hwange - best camping route for 7 nights August 2020

    Tracy,
