    Sticky: Re: Electrickery for camping

I found when soldering I only solder in the lug, not allowing solder to flow outside lug. Then I skin off about 10mm of insulation from the lug. Imho this allows flexibility at the back of the lug...

    Re: Keeping cables tidy

I wonder if pvc flexible spraghing that is used to hold stove wires together would not work easier than spiral cut pipe or even better that already made spiral stuff used to keep computer and power...
  5. Re: Why do LED festoon bulbs still glow when switched off?

Imho it's a leakage current or reverse current flowing in the negative wires that triggers the Led to glow. You can insert a resistor in series and it will stop the glow. The old globes had a...

    Re: Trailer handbrake dissengaging?

If I remember correctly my dad's old caravan had a weird brake system. If you hit brakes in the forward position, the caravan braked. If you reversed you had to flip a mechanical lever over on tow...

Re: National Luna 12v Split Charger System

Why have a 100A fuse feeding solinoid input and 100 Amp fuse feeding Auxiliary battery. Surly one 100Amp fuse is enough as both are in series to auxiliary battery.???

Re: National Luna 12v Split Charger System

So is my thought correct. You can wire the solinoid through a switch so that you can start charging the auxiliary battery later on into the journey ie giving time for the crank battery to fully...

Re: National Luna 12v Split Charger System

Very informative. So no rushing out to buy a DC-DC if not required. Infact imho a larger gauge wire off a solinoid is basically all you need or am I wrong again.

  13. Re: The Worlds Simplest Solar Sun Tracker - Really

Dam, didn't think of that. Again one would need a low draw /start up motor to turn the panels.

Re: National Luna 12v Split Charger System

Silly question. As I understand it, the primary battery ie start battery gets the charge for a few minutes then the solonoid switches over to charge both primary and secondary ie auxiliary batteries....

Re: National Luna 12v Split Charger System

Not the expert but a lot of people use these to charge prim and auxiliary batteries. That one you posted is just fancier because it has a monitor. [emoji16].
  16. Re: The Worlds Simplest Solar Sun Tracker - Really

Now to up scale to be able to move a larger panel. My next question, what if wind is blowing, will it not split the wind ie similar to boat bow into water. Hence panel unable to turn due to wind...

  19. Re: Romer cooler build quality - Does your Romer look like this?

OK just phoned the owners son. They make a 35ltr version but not as thick as the bigger box. I will try get out there next week and gets some picts.
  20. Re: Romer cooler build quality - Does your Romer look like this?

Will do. I have the half size as well, think it's the 40ltr. Basically a 500ml coke bottle standing up right fits in there.
  21. Re: Romer cooler build quality - Does your Romer look like this?

I have also had my two for roughly same period. Still perfect.
  22. Re: Romer cooler build quality - Does your Romer look like this?

They did have a bad batch and did replacements. I'm guessing the QA chap does not work there anymore as the factory is here in Dimbaza close to where I live in KWT.

  24. Re: Fuel Containers on Camper vans and Camping Trailers?

I'm guessing its to prevent people making fuel bombs during this period???

Fill up vehicle, go home and syphon fuel into containers. Go to different fuel stations and repeat process.
