    Iíd head to Gona.

Firstly, theyíve got better self-catering units than Hwange at the moment. Have a search on here for some of MikevRís posts about the recent upgrades and new facilities in Gona....

    Re: Bat deterrent devices

I have no intention of killing them. Part of the plan is to build bat boxes for them to move to, I just want them out of my bedroom.

  7. Re: Approx Drive Time - Ponta Malongane Dive Camp to Maputo

Maputo to the border is just over an hour, so maybe add 15 minutes onto that to be safe.

Canít you make the trip or are you worried about the drought (I seem to recall you were last year)?

If the drought then reconsider, the northern part of the park is green. If not, ignore my...

Re: Zimbabwe - October 2020 - proposed itinerary

2 days from Mapungubwe to Hwange is comfortable.

I think three nights in Matopos is too much, I'd do 2, but it's not a train smash and is personal preference. If you decide to change add a night...

    Re: Kgalagadi in summer advice

I'd go Feb/March, chances are much higher of seeing greenery and you may catch a storm or two.

The rains were early this summer, and last year they hardly got any, so it is a bit of pot luck, but...

    Re: Southern Namibia/Kgalagadi - Dec 2020

I canít comment on the price vs Namibia but the fuel in the park is not that much more expensive than the filling stations south of the reserve (eg Askham).

I canít tell you what itís like in the reserve but I drove the northern cut line a few days ago and it was very green all the way from Kaa gate to Mabua (and beyond).

    Zapiture,

Please post the rainfall figures recorded at 8am on the 6th December when you get them. Will be very interesting to see how much rain they had in the last 24 hours.

Re: Ugie to Port Edward - is it safe?

I would go via Matatiele, it's only 30km's longer and it's a much nicer road with fewer hazards.

apparently the private lodges have initiated a feeding program, whereby bales of feed are brought in from Karoi and surrounds. I assume this is with Zimparks blessing

Maybe a 1996, not 2006? I was under the impression the 100/5 took over from around 97/98.

Still the best Cruiser that Toyota made.

    Re: Few notes on Hwange

Very strange that they asked for USD20 per day for park fees for Robins area only, particularly as the rest of the reserve is USD8/10.

Did Zimparks give any reason for that?

In the old days there wasnít even the tar road from Upington to Askham, so you had about 300km of gravel before you got to TR.
