Re: Motorised jockey wheel for boat trailer

This is the basic drive mechanism, from the winch directly to the axle.

This is the only photo I have unfortunately, but it gives you a rough idea.

This is the boat the client was wanting to move, on a paved surface.

Re: Motorised jockey wheel for boat trailer

That will NOT move a 5.2M duck on a gravel surface! That wheel is far too small and will stand spinning in one place until the cows come home.

Re: Motorised jockey wheel for boat trailer

There is someone up JHB way that makes them. I have worked on 2 of these units and they are honestly not worth the money spent on them. Far better to make your own. It is not that difficult.

Re: Travel through EC coastal region

Why not do a "Poor man's gamedrive" through Shamwari? Few people are aware that the main road through Shamwari is a public road and they cannot refuse you access.
  6. Re: Ford X-flow Head and Weber DCOE Restoration

Wow! Now that brings back memories.

My dad had a friend in Empangeni that had a workshop in the mid '70s. It was at that stage cheaper to replace the motors than spend time repairing them. He...

    Re: Height indicating "antenna"

This will be mounted on the top edge of the bullbar, so basically ahead of the leading edge of the bonnet. My bar is similar to the one below, so will make use of one of the upper, what I assume to...

    Re: Height indicating "antenna"

It would indeed be a dummy antenna as I do not have a radio and have no intention of fitting one. This will purely be an indication of height that you can see ahead of you as an early warning...

    Height indicating "antenna"

I need to mount an antenna of sorts on my bullbar that is the same height as the top of the RTT. This to prevent me driving underneath something lower than the RTT and thus damaging it.

    Is...

The local Waxoyl guys (who are the official Waxoyl agents in SA) clean the rust etc off by dry ice blasting.

You need to look at your phone! ;D

Your casings are ready. I need to go through to Walmer in a little while so can drop them off if you want.

    Thanks for the replies.

We have made contact with Gerald Minnaar who will provide us with a key for hopefully the only locked gate. The remainder are apparently "Emerging farmers" so they don't...

Poll: Re: Pajero Gen 2 restoration

Awesome job there, Herman. Just 2 things to note.

"C clips" are generally single use items. Always replace with new ones. I have been bitten twice by them.

The seals on "sealed bearings" are...

    Yes, a Rose-Index it is!

I do not have a dividing head, so had to get resourceful in cutting the shapes. Will post the process when I do the smaller one.

Next step is to modify the hole slightly, like so.

It is not quite finished yet. Still needs a larger hole in the centre and a locking screw.

    Trapvoet Pass?

Has anyone done Trapvoet Pass just North of Beaufort West? If so, opinions?

Is it worth the detour? We will be headed for Verneukpan and it's a route we haven't done before.

  29. Re: Road conditions : Whittlesea, Katberg pass, Seymore to Hoggsback

Re: LC 76 SW Roof Console

My CAD skill are a little more basic than the average. Cardboard box, sellotape, pencil, sharp knife.

You would need a serious 3D printer for that. This thing is over 1 meter long.

Re: LC 76 SW Roof Console

    The area between...
