    Re: Everest 3.2 Reliability

I was wondering the same the other day:

Re: Prado 120 V6......How far do they Go??

My understanding is that there usually are signs of coolant residue around the pump before they fail. It usually doesn't come as a sudden, catastrophic failure.

Re: Prado 120 V6......How far do they Go??

Actually yes, some people do do that. I live at the coast and it is being done here. I wouldn't do it neither would I recommend it. But some kind of protection for the underbody does make sense.
  4. Re: Emergency SOS device - does one REALLY need it?

Generations of people have traveled through and lived in remote areas without any electronic gadgets. Hence, it is not a necessity.
Only you can decide whether or not it'll make sense to have a...

    Re: Buying Prado - advise

There are quite a few differences. The 120 diesel came with the KZTE engine.
The 120 V6 is the single VVT-i version with 176 kw.
The 150 diesel got the D4D motor, which should be a bit more...

Always wash the car before storing it for a while, obviously. Have the underbody treated and sprayed with protective wax (long term solution) or have the underbody sprayed with machining oil (some...

Re: What is the best Starting 4x4 Trailer

At this stage I wouldn't worry too much about what trailer to get.
Just a few basic questions you should ask yourself:
Do you want a proper camping kitchen, yes or no?
Do you want a trailer tent,...

Re: Prado 120 V6......How far do they Go??

I would say considering the current market & 2nd hand 4x4 prices, it is not a bad deal.
As to the water pump, the common recommendation is to replace the pump between 180k and 200k km. Unless it can...

Re: Landcruiser 4.0 D/C vs Hilux 2.8GD6 Dakar

Look at fuel and maintenance costs. If I remember correctly, Hedgehog had a bit of a surprise regarding costs for scheduled maintenance on his 79 (or was it a 76?).
It's hard to justify the LC79...

Any chance the individual spring blades are stuck together and can't move against each other?
Maybe disassemble the spring packs, check for corrosion and check the bushes.

Re: Triton 3.5 V6 or 3.2D advice please!!!!

The 265/65R17 tyres you can deflate quite a bit for sand driving, don't worry. Unless you are looking urgently for an excuse to spend money on new tyres.

Re: Elephant Bull Causes Havoc In Gonarezhou

Taking evasive action during a mock charge triggers a proper charge, specifically with younger bulls.
If the driver would have just stood his ground, nothing would have happened, most likely.

Did you import those tyres yourself?
The GY Wrangler Adventure tyres you get in southern Africa don't have Kevlar in the sidewall, they only got a Kevlar layer in the tread.

Re: Testing a Diesel Engine's Health.........??

Usually one would use eyes to look at the dipstick. If you wait until the engine sounds wrong because of lack of oil, damage is already done.
  30. Re: What is happening with Toyota/Hilux 2nd hand prices

Keep in mind that car loans came with an optional insurance against loss of income. The insurance would cover the outstanding loan in case the insured lost their job and it's not their fault.

I found with the XT140 it bounces on tar a lot more with low pressure, when it is light. I usually pump it to 2.0 for tar. The trailer weighs 600 kg empty.
