  1. Looking for recommendations on Diesel pump test/repair - Pajero 3.2

Hi everyone, could someone please recommend a repair shop where I can send my Diesel pump via courier to have it tested / repaired? I am in Postmasburg, Northern Cape, I do not think there is such a...

    Amarok sweating oil on Turbo

Hi everyone, I need help in locating the possible source of the oil leak/sweat, that is accumulating on the bottom of the turbo? I attach a photo so you can see where it is. Any suggestions?
  4. Re: Difference between 2001 and later 3.2 engines

I just took the vehicle for a drive again, what I picked up is that, once I can get it to rev above 2000 rpm, it goes like a bullet. I took it on a gravel road, it stutters and surges and once it...
  5. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

I see your point, but since my wife wants it, I will spend whatever is necessary to make it as reliable as possible for her. I will keep on driving my Lexus Beemer, it gives me tremendous pleasure or...
  6. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

Ek begin nogal so dink. Ek het 'n engine opgespoor wat binnekort uit Japan uit verskeep. R 38 000 en dis nog steeds goedkoper as wat ek oorspronklik verwag het as ek Lexus toe sou gaan. En soos almal...
  7. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

You are 100% correct in saying the acquisition is only part of the cost. When I converted my BMW E46 to Lexus V8, I did a very careful estimate (doing everything myself saved a bit) that it should...
  8. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

I think we already established in this case, the vehicle is boss.... If I was boss, I would not have to ask for help / advice on this site. I would simply pull out the engine and do whatever I deem...
  9. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

I tried that route, but staying in Postmasburg, where the closest reputable guy might be in Kimberley or Upington (both over 200 km away from me), that option is not doable. That is why I thought...
  10. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

Well, I did take it for a drive, testing the 4X4 in low and high off-road, drove it through town for a while and the only thing I did not do, is crawl under the car and check for damage. Also a...
  11. Re: Difference between 2001 and later 3.2 engines

I haven't started to strip yet. Symptoms include: engine won't rev above 2000 rpm ans smokes heavily, uses oil, turbo has play on the shaft, possible worn diesel pump. But maybe the head is still...
  12. Difference between 2001 and later 3.2 engines

Hi guys, I am currently looking to source a complete engine to replace my worn 3.2 engine in my 2001 Pajero. What is the difference between later models and my 2001 model's engine? If I do find a...
  13. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

Thanks for the info, I am already looking to find a motor to replace this one with. Funny how the seller always praises the vehicle for how well it runs, and afterwards, when you try to phone him...
  14. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

Thank you for a very nice and honest response. Afterall, that is what I wanted, a helpful response without the added attitude. Since I am also not an expert on Pajeros by any means, I try to gain as...
  15. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

It is very difficult to listen to someone that would rather attack you that assist you....... But maybe it's just me.
  16. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

Wow, real helpful reply in the current situation. Funny, but that is exactly what I expected. Not a lot of helpful info, but a LOT of stone throwing going on. I did ask for HELP, not for being shot...
  17. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

I didn't treat the vehicle like this, that is how I bought it, based on the previous owner's very "honest" opinion of the vehicle. Taking the vehicle to Cape Town is a no go, since I stay 1 100 km...
  18. Re: Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

Ok, not exactly the tone I expected from the Pajero lovers, but ok. I'll own it. I am asking for advice, not for a crucifixion....20L/100km is maybe a bit of an overreach, but that is just my...
  19. Thinking about Gen3 (3.2 DID) Lexus conversion

I am between the devil and the deep blue sea, I bought a Gen3 and 2 weeks after buying it (privately), the problems started. Firstly the vehicle did not want to pick up revs, going only to 2000 rpm...

In a small town like Wolseley it is hard to find someone to borrow one to see... I can order one from Ebay but that will take forever to get here.

    Amarok leaking oil

I need help with an oil leak on a 2011 2.0L Amarok. There is an oil leak on the front of the engine somewhere and I can't find it. It is not the camshaft, the seal is new and clean. It seems the belt...

    Re: Amarok timing belt broke

New torque wrench. It worked perfectly with the headbolts. I think the motor overheated somewhere in it's past that might have soften the bolts. Will rather replace them all.

    Re: Amarok timing belt broke

This what the bolts (and the broken one) look like. Looks like Grade 8.8 as it is stamped on the head, so if I replace them with High tensile steel bolts, will it have any negative effect?
