    Re: Avoiding solar power throwaway

There are many of us legally grid-tied and feeding into the grid.

This month alone I fed in 145kWh of excess power.
  2. Re: Mecer Inverter - 8 Batteries - Real World Figures

As I said in another thread a while ago.

We have now had many years of experience with unreliable power, the technology is freely available and actually quite cheap. There is no excuse for a...
  3. Re: Mecer Inverter - 8 Batteries - Real World Figures

Quite correct, but even prior to 14h00 to see anything more than 1300W implies that the batteries must be charging. If they are charged then max you will ever see is 1300W, so it is extremely...

    Re: Tiger fishing recommendations

We have our annual Tiger fishing comp coming up in August. Typically about 150 Anglers.

At Jozini ( AKA Pongolapoort ) the general consensus is the months with a R in the name, with the hotter the...

  7. Re: Mecer Inverter - 8 Batteries - Real World Figures

    6 x 415 = 2.49kWp

    2.49 x 4 = 9.96kWh and 2.49 x 5 = 12.45kWh

I would expect your system to generate somewhere between 10 and 12kWh. I think you are doing extremely well for the time of year,...
  8. Re: Mecer Inverter - 8 Batteries - Real World Figures

    Looking quite good actually.

Adding a grid - tie inverter is actually very cheap because you have all the "other" stuff already..

    Less than R10K all in.

But I wouldn't do it in your case,...

Re: 3.9 V8i ECU Wiring Loom Fault Finding

I’m curious about this tune resistor.

If it has been spliced into the crank timing circuit, then I wouldn’t be surprised if the loom is touch sensitive.

Re: How will you bend a 22mm alu pipe.

Make yourself wooden plugs to seal the ends of the tube.

Pack tube TIGHTLY with sand. River sand.

Heat bend area with a gas fire. A CADAC type cooker works well.

    Bend a little. Heat. Bend....

Problems like the above send cold shivers up my spine, and are why I am rather against Mains Inverters in portable systems. With these systems, the whole concept of L - E - N flies out the door. Both...

    Re: Portable Lithium Box

    This is DANGEROUS territory. VERY.

  15. Re: Mecer Inverter - 8 Batteries - Real World Figures

What confuses me is why are your batteries are dying. Also what are you trying to achieve with the Solar panels.

Your system should be set to never use the batteries unless there is a power...

    Re: Medical oxygen tanks

My guess is that the impurities will probably be other gasses/chemicals used in the plant. So things like acetylene, etc.

If it was a choice between trying or dying I know what I would choose.

The only time it will indicate 20V on the charger is when there is no battery, or the battery is 100% charged, AND there is no load drawing current.
