    Re: Restoring Land Rover Costs

I don't get why you would spend a year or two or three to restore a vehicle just to sell it once it's done. If I go through all the effort I would want to brag and enjoy the fruits of my labour.

    Re: Is this possible?

To think that I passed on a 289 Fastback in 1989 for the massive sum of R15700. Was just a little to much for my SA Airforce appy pay and it was a cash deal. My Dad said " moenie jou mal hou nie,...
  4. Defender Re: Land Rover Defender becomes company's best-seller

Agree 100% with you on air suspension. It is the one thing that made my now sold D3 stand out. Towing was such a breeze even with us 6 up. Miss her every day just not the upkeep as that got me in the...

Re: The difference between custom and home made

My opinion is that most "custom" items here would be better classified as modified.

Chip Foose has a custom workshop where he and his team modify cars to a specific spec given to them by a...

Phenomenal tyre. Had them on the D3 when I sold her. Lovely tyre on tar or dirt. Did very well on the beach too.

Re: Jeep model and year ??

First of all, 4x4 vehicles were never destined to be light on fuel. There is a price to pay for the fun we have. My V8's are heavier on smiles than fuel.

If it is a burden then rather sell it to...

    Why do you say this?

How many days and trips have you spend/done in a new Defender? The gents here who make these claims owned/own old Defenders and new ones so they speak from experience? On...
  14. Defender Re: Land Rover Defender becomes company's best-seller

Most 4x4 vehicles these days come straight off the dealer floor with all kinds of nice plastic bumpers and trims. The Land Cruiser and Hilix also started out with steel bumpers and look at it today?...

    Re: Defender 90 2.8 - Value ?

On paper my D1 V8 is worth 15bucks or so...... to me, she is worth her eight in gold, TWICE.

2.8's are a fad now so they are worth what people are willing to pay for them.
  26. Re: Advice needed on 3.9 V8 Defender consumption

    30l/100km sounds about right.

930 odd kilos should see around R5000 worth of fuel at the current fuel price. If so, nothing wrong.
