    There is also a very fine strainer in the head under the pressure regulator that may have crud in it.
    An external fuel filer is fitted to Td5 Discoveries, in the right rear wheel well.

    It sounds like a clutch failure, maybe the A clutch. The various clutches lock or disengage in groups to achieve the ratios, so if one fails you will have issues.
