Sticky: Re: Bird photo's for comment & crit

Attached is the photo I mentioned earlier, in all it's full-sized glory (unless this forum makes files smaller). If you zoom in, you will notice the feet are tack-sharp, but every other part of the...

Two very nice shots EHoffmann. And there is a case to be made for slow shutter speeds, like your friend uses. But that's to achieve a very different goal.

The problem with this specific situation...

For once, I do not agree with you.

1/2000th is too slow for these guys in this activity. I have a photo of one taking off from a branch, taken at 1/2000th. Feet are pin-sharp. But that's all. Will...

Sticky: Re: Bird photo's for comment & crit

These shots are insanely difficult to get right. Most of those you see on the net/instagram/facebook etc. are unethically staged. Guys place nets with fish just under the water. The birds often get...

    Re: Stainless steel snorkels

Viper has made at least one for a forum mamber on a Y60 Patrol.

Take note that he is un-willing to cut the hole in the body, so you need to do that yourself.

    Re: Mysterious elephant deaths

Added to what Tony said above, due to the lockdown there will have been less people observing too, thus more likelyhood that smaller carcasses could go un-noticed.

Re: Best 4x4 tires for deep sand

I am certainly not the world's most experienced sand driver, but I do have enough experience to know that, when driving on sand, finesse is important. Bury the throttle and you are likely to get...

Re: Best 4x4 tires for deep sand

    My understanding is thus:

If your vehicle is not particularly powerful, and/or if the sand you want to drive on is relatively flat, you want the smoothest and softest-construction tire you can get...

Doen jouself die keer 'n guns. Gaan ONMIDDELIK na die naaste 4x4 roete toe, en ry hom bietjie soos hy moet gery word.

Dan gaan jy hom nie weer wil verkoop nie...

    Re: Bronco, would you?

    Sorry, forgot the smiley...

But if I had it, I would be prepared to bet the price of it that it won't come out like that. I believe it will be significantly "de-tuned" from that.

    Re: Bronco, would you?

No. Won't get through a road block with all those lights.

Take a few of them off, and I won't give it back if they give me one.

Re: Nissan Sani 2.4 power issues

No need to pull it out, just check the timing thoroughly (at idle and at revs, with and without vacuum), and maybe also check the coil's resistance and the HT leads' resistances. And if it still runs...

That is an option I have been considering, but the guys are crazy with their prices.
  21. Re: Looking for a motor and gearbox for a winding machine

Plunger, I have no experience with electric stepper motors. Only pneumatic ones, and that wo'nt work.

It needs to move reasonably smoothly. Will a stepper motor do that?
  22. Looking for a motor and gearbox for a winding machine

I am looking for a supplier of an electric motor and gearbox combination with the following requirements:

    Output RPM: 80-500RPM
Max output torque: 55Nm (co-insides with lower RPM)
    Output torque...

Re: What features important for TPMS?

The one I have has a minimum set pressure of 1.9 bar, with an allowance of 25%. So in practice the alarm goes of at anything under 1.5 bar.

But one can silence the alarm. If it detects the...
  25. Re: How long will we be able to keep the internal combustion engine running?

While your features are certainly handy, I don't think many of them are actually important, assuming that one can silence the alarm. Of course, if the unit picks up something else going wrong, it...

Re: Savuti to Kasane. Best easiest road

As others have said, slow it down. That is at least a two week trip, else you won't have any time to enjoy what you have driven so far to see.

Also, keep in mind that due to the vetiranary issues,...
