Took a drive over the weekend in a mates 'new' Hilux (150kw) - Durban to Ladysmith and back, 110 and 130 (speedo) depending on the zone and cruise control on most of the time, seldom broke the speed...
Thats my point, it's EVERYTHING people wanted in a new Defender ;D
New Defender eat your heart out:)
My only worry would be the skinny spare, my brother got stranded at ponto with a Frelander and a skinny years ago.
Jump in now, they're still available ;D
I should be getting my third one next month.
Is the Powerplus or the IDrive the one to go for, I see there is quite a price difference?
Agree, I'm in the process of replacing and the TX ticks a lot of boxes, the problem is the scarcity of second hand low mileage examples - there are none - and the price new.........at nearly 200k...
Agree, even if it was a Skoda engine Toyota would test the crap out of it - look what the did with the Supra engine.
Actually the Navara chassis breaking had nothing to do with incorrect use, it was a crap design issue.
That Isuzu V6 must hold the record for worst fuel consumption in any bakkies.........ever:o Great motor though!!
Tow a 2,8 ton ski boat from Durban to Inhambane with a V6 Amarok and then back with a 2.8 Hilux and then tell me its ego.;)
Seriously rethink the FJ, go and drive one......then buy one:)
Turbo pipe popped off and limp mode?
EDIT: just seen it was revving......can't be limp mode.
We go down every second month, was actually there last weekend......still great:)
When we saw it three years ago it was 113%, I think it was flowing for the first time in 16 years or something.....really worth taking a trip to see!
Can't find the pics but this is taken on our...
Lekka videos, would be nice to see the Crawl control added in.
Where do you get that rubbish?
Have you ever seen the Toyota plant here?
Well said, this has been debated to death here but from experience I've had two vehicles with them and for my usage would never fit them even if they lasted 200000 kms, unless you drive everywhere at...
Not at all, totally different body........not to mention SA's first ever hybrid;)
Old news;D

I have a Yaris T3 parked on my front lawn (we've bought it for a family friend) that has 345000 kms on the clock.....original mechanical.
1500kgs......just leave it in D, mode on power!
I would look at the 2.4 with your budget, fantastic motor and more than adequate for your use.
Just add stuff as you go, all to often guys fit unimportant things first.......an example would be rock sliders for your use....
No need to look anywhere else, just search this forum......lots of info from owners with issues.
Everything goes in cycles - forty years of offshore fishing have told me this;D.......with some climate change thrown in.
By my reckoning the rain we have had here on east coast this season is...
The fact that it's more reliable :)
Isuzu......just less risk!!
I'm not sure but I don't think the wifi is in the head unit?
You should have been heavier and towed faster, that box and engine needs to work;)
I've towed my boat many miles and almost always left it in D, for an 'old' box it's not bad at all and you soon learn where to(or not to) use the cruise control.
That said, as well as it tows I...
It was a common fault, my nephew had the same problem on his 2.2, he suspects it was the reason they ended up replacing the gearbox further down the line.
Good comparison that, if anything it shows how reliable the Japs are compared to the British rubbish;D
