Poll: Re: Types of 4x4 enthusiast

I sit squarely is the second group which has tested vehicle underbody protection numerous times and resulted in some trail damage.

    Re: Td5 MSB remap

Brians system reaches about R7k for the works but the 4x4MON system has twice the capability and replaces a large part of a dual battery system.

    Re: Td5 MSB remap

It looks like a great system that really offers more than the Madman, I would have gone this route if I hadn't already gone with madman.

  7. Poll: Re: Defender Puma vs Discovery 4 for Southern Africa Overlanding?

No not at all, quite the opposite actually.

A defender is actually quite average in the hands of a novice it just excellent in the hands of someones who knows how to drive it. More so than a D4,...
  8. Poll: Re: Defender Puma vs Discovery 4 for Southern Africa Overlanding?

For the intended purpose I agree that a D4 is a better buy.

I have to agree with Byron regarding off-road ability, a defenders ability can surpass that of a disco only if in good hands. If you...

    Re: Td5 MSB remap

Hi gents, just to get back on track a bit and provide some feedback!

I took a 1600km round trip to Kruger over the long weekend, there were some looooong and arduous inclines around hazyview and...

    Re: Defender 110 advice

Stefan they really aren't for everyone, but if the bug bites it seldom lets go completely. Definitely take one for a long drive and tow with one if you can.

You will need to adjust your driving...

    Re: Newbie advise please

The FL1 is the worst vehicle land rover has made by far......a bottomless pit. There are even some land rover mechanics that refuse to work on them.

Re: Defender 110 2005 - Air con fan worn

    Hi Richard

British 4x4 in pretoria sell an uprated fan, slightly more noisy but hardly noticeable at speed. Maybe give them a shout and have one couriered down. Last I checked it was less than R5k

    Re: Td5 MSB remap

    Some quick feedback.

I ended up going with Elton from eursospeed purely because lrxtreme use them, initially the landy would go into limp mode due to overboost very quickly. Turned down the boost...

Defender Re: Defender TD5 temerature guage falling

    Hi

The best option would be to get a Madman EMS system to monitor coolant levels, coolant temp and EGT's. The standard land rover gauge reacts too slowly to rising temps and by the time the gauge...

  22. Re: JK 4dr Long Haul Overlander - reliability/preventative maintanance

A Nissan Patrol would be a fantastic overlander at a very decent price.

  23. Re: JK 4dr Long Haul Overlander - reliability/preventative maintanance

    Thanks, some valuable insight.

I would have preferred to speak to whoever was doing the map in person but I guess Ill have to send the ECU to rovertech and give Nikki a call.

As a Defender fan I have to agree with this statement wholeheartedly. As a tourer it also lacks some packing space.
