Re: Ctek 250 upgrade to smartpass

The shunt has to be on the aux battery neg terminal, itís the only way the BMV 602 will work.

I have made a new correct wiring diagram that I will post tomorrow when I get access to a scanner.

Re: Ctek 250 upgrade to smartpass

Something looks horribly wrong with that connection diagram. It cant work the way it is.

I am having a look into it.
  4. Re: Can we connect a 6kVA Online UPS on a 5kVA Diesel Power Generator..?

In principle yes - unless the UPS rejects the gennie as an unstable load.

    Re: Lead Carbon Batteries

To me off-road use is the ultimate cycling application, not a standby UPS application. Quite the opposite.

Exactly what lead carbon is best at.

And because they excel at partial charge they can...

    Re: Lead Carbon Batteries

I find that a very strange response.

    I have to ask why.

Lead carbon seems appears much better suited to off-road from what I can determine.
  7. Re: Connecting backup batteries of differing capacity's

    Spot on actually.

If any batteries are in series they MUST be the same AH or very similar.

Batteries in parallel, whether 12/24 or 48V series strings, can be a mix of AH. Batteries in parallel...

    Re: Installed grid-tie inverter today

Just be careful of the statement "not feed back into the grid".

CT based control is a bit like Traction Control. It cant intervene until "YOU ARE FEEDING BACK INTO THE GRID". There has to be a...

  12. Re: 220 v standup fridge 170 ltr in offroad caravan

That was my thought also. I think the difference in price is between a fully equipped 12V van and a 220V van.
  13. Re: 220 v standup fridge 170 ltr in offroad caravan

EEK - Im trying to eat my breakfast here and I am gagging and spluttering. ;D

Its all about efficiency, and when running off batteries efficiency comes down to every last % counting.
  14. Re: 220 v standup fridge 170 ltr in offroad caravan

Surely the offroad caravan manufacturer would fit a fridge that is fit for purpose.

The fact that you are concidering batteries and an inverter tells me that you will be camping in places that...

Also keep in mind that some inductions donít like inverters.

So be sure to test before buying.

FWIW - There is no delay to the market from Killarneys side.

    The layout is.

N3 Shongweni turnoff - Farmers Market - Killarney. The delay is between N3 and Farmers Market.

  28. Re: Connection suggestion for solar and aux system

Just be careful to limit the current you draw from the load terminal. Ie, donít run a car wheel pump, etc.

Also beware of voltage drops when trying to run fridges that have their own low voltage...
