    You did not mention, what 105 battery. If it is a wet cell, crank, high or even deep cell, then 6 years is a good innings. You probably could squeeze out a bit more lifetime by switching off at night...

    All I can suggest is what we used to do with the bike cables. Loosen one end and allow penetrating oil to run down inside the sheath.

    As per the above advice, works like a charm, when mine is out of the vehicle I keep mine topped up like this. I bolted a PWM controller onto my box and direct to battery. I just plug the panel in now.
