Re: Disco 3 with seized motor

Jelo, you are welcome to take the chair and do something worthwhile on this issue yourself instead of posting this. We all have other things to do as well - some way more important than doing things...

    Re: D3 or FJ Cruiser

Obviously I am biased towards the D3 V8 and have no experience of the FJ. At 118k km mine has not cost me no more than about R15k in repairs. (Alternator, compressor seals and dryer, radiator...
  3. Re: Preliminary Investigation into TDV6 Crank Failures

George, I have read up a lot on these harmonic damper pulleys lately in order to decide how I want approach my own testing/evaluation of the two pulleys received.

To answer you short and sweet if...
  4. Re: Preliminary Investigation into TDV6 Crank Failures

George, I received two pulleys . One from a broken crank and one new. Must still do the physical comparison test and relate to a dynamic simulation I am busy with on my computer. Trying to set up...

    Very nice setup!
  6. Re: Dash Cam with Full HD/GPS logger/G-sensor (V2) DEALER ADDS

    Thanks Kemp.

I just discovered there is a HDMI port on the camera as well by reading the manual again! (After using it for almost 2 years now!)

    Should be simple now.

    Regards.

    Re: Towing Dynamics

Very good article backed up by some proper theory on multiple scenario's. Thanks for this!
  8. Re: Dash Cam with Full HD/GPS logger/G-sensor (V2) DEALER ADDS

Hi, forgive my stupid question - how do one play the dash cam through the TV? Cabling used en power for the dash cam since on its own the battery is bit poor?

    Thanks.

Re: Disco 3 Alternator rebuild, parts list

    Thanks Hanny and SS.

Mine whined very loud, no dash light on and did not charge at all. I still wonder how the diode pack was joined to the windings. It looks as if mine was "welded with copper"....

Re: Disco 3 Alternator rebuild, parts list

One more question Hanny. How did you join the diode pack to the winding wires? Normal solder or other process?

Re: What have you done with your Discovery today?

Changed the Transfer Box's oil at 117k km. Very simple job. Old oil quite dark colour compared to the new oil. Took the skid plate under the engine off for a general inspection - not a single oil...

  18. Re: A Victron MPPT 75/15 solar charge controller question.

Poen, I have exactly the same MPPT Victron charger permanently coupled to a LC battery (also 100Ah). A smart Victron Battery charger is also permanently coupled to my battery. They are obviously used...

    Re: Bush Lapa Miskruier review

Ontdekker, yes you are correct. Just had a look at mine. Both sides are cut. The cut however is not into the real spring eye and will have no effect. Regards.

Looking at the pictures it looks as if a section of the blade spring eye has been cut away? See area encircled in red. To fit into the chassis construction? ??? Busy fitting the new soft touch LED...

  25. Re: Which would you buy first, stretcher or self-inflating mattress?

You will get lots of different answers - all with their merits. What we have found is that if you go the stretcher way in a tent, a lot of space opens up in the tent by being able to store things...

    Re: Bush lapa miskruier review

? - die 100 liter water in die tenk = 100kg. Net mooi ongeveer 12,5% (1/8ste) van die BL se standaard massa en dit sit op die verste plek weg van die sleephaak wat die traagheidsmoment beduidend...

  29. Re: TDV6 Snapped Cranks A new look at this vexing problem

  30. Re: TDV6 Snapped Cranks A new look at this vexing problem

No doubt JLR must have looked into this. Could be quite satisfying winning a Class Action law suit with some own test results! Many TDV6 owners will smile!

    Regards.
  31. Re: TDV6 Snapped Cranks A new look at this vexing problem

George, in all sincerity, the time has come to stop discussing and postulating and do some real scientific tests on broken hardware as has been proposed a number of times here. This will go on and on...
