    Re: Scamed and need help!

You could have bought an entry level laptop on takealot for that money. Goedkoop koop is duur Koop.

    You could try carbonate.co.za

    School fees unfortunately.

Re: 2019 to get a Discovery 3 V8 se or not

You say your budget is sub R200k, and you cannot stretch it. You also say that you are scared of expensive items like the gearbox going.

Personally I think the V8 Disco's are very nice. But...

Re: Advice Please - Cordless Drill

    Buy once, cry once.

Go for Makita, or DeWalt. I've had my Makita since 2013. It gets used everyday in my job. Both batteries are still going, although I do realise that they are not a good as they...

Yep, that's what I do. R15 for a grip at sportsman's warehouse last time I bought, and lasts about a year for me.

Re: Windows tablet for Base Camp

Ahhh okey I see where you're going with this. Hmmm that's a question. I'm not sure, I'll have to have a look. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of one. Apart from the price, why not use an iPad?...

Re: Windows tablet for Base Camp

    Honestly,

I'd rather get something like this, if portability is a must.

    https://www.takealot.com/acer-aspire-intel-celeron-n3350-11-6-notebook/PLID47151924

Upgrade the RAM to at least 4gb,...
  14. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

I did read on MyBroadband where they're asking members to contribute to a fuel consumption thread to post their findings in their cars, with proof, photo of the on-board computer.

    One of the most...
  15. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

I did mention it earlier (post #24) Not more than R250k, but obviously as little as possible within reason.
  16. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

    BWAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Mooiman. Actually, that's not a bad price. Mileage is a bit high, but its cheap, I'll give you that. You really should consider helping out at your local Toyota...
  17. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Geez, like I said before, I never would have thought of even looking at Volvo, but the V40 D3 Gearmatic (6 speed auto) looks very good! Yoh, spanner in the works...
  18. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Another suggestion that I only thought of couple of days ago is the Mazda 2. 1.5 Dynamic, Auto. Everything I've read, and seen on youtube looks very good!
  19. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a bike. BMW R1200GS Adventure. Average fuel consumption over the life I've had it is 5.6L/100KM A good figure(for a 1000kg+ car), but hardly noteworthy "fuel...

Re: Saw on FB !! DIsco 4 burned out.

Shame! Geez that must be a horrible thing to have to see!

As said, was probably grass that caused it. Can happen to any vehicle! Wonder how often it would be prudent to stop, and check the...
  21. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Geez, you have given this a lot of thought.... Thanks.

Please, your daily (the !up) What the deal? If the prius is that good, why would you go for something so small? What is the !up's? average...
  22. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Also, Johan, I only know of one Prius driver at my work, but he upgrades to the new model every time it comes out, so he cannot comment on the longevity of the thing. Any car wil be super reliable if...
  23. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Cool, thanks. So, is the 1.8 the one to go for? This will obviously be second hand, so in the budget, which models are the one to go for?
  24. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Space isn't an issue, thats what the Patrol is for. This will be for commuting.

To be honest, if Toyota made the 1.4d Corolla available in AUTO, this thread would not exist.
  25. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

I just checked the AA's website,

Prius is rated at R3.22 per KM
My Corolla is rated at R2.81 per km
My BMW 120d is rated at R4.61 per km

The Prius used was the bottom of the range 2010...

  27. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

What year model? Did you buy new?
  28. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

I actually have looked at them to be honest. But as stated by someone else in the thread, because this vehicle will mostly be used on highways, at highway speeds. I think the Prius (or any other...
  29. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Looking at the Jetta's (2012 and up). Can anyone comment on the 1.6 diesel? They good? How is that DSG? Are these an option?
  30. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

I'd say anything below 8 L/100Km is low.

Yes, maybe I should put a price cap on this. Lets say no more than R250k. When considering this, do you go small but new, or do you go BMW (320d),...
  31. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

Ye, but I've only seen the Touring versions.
  32. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

    Are the DSG's reliable?
  33. Re: Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

    Ja... I'm waiting for him.

Just don't know if the Prius will last. Those batteries are very expensive when they go. Also, what consumption does one get up here really in a Prius? 5 to 6 liters per...
  34. Platkar... What's the lightest on fuel, in the real world?

    Hi Guys,

I started a thread a while ago regarding getting a Honda Accord as a daily, I'm still rather keen on the Accord, but my work situation may change soon, where I may be commuting from the...
