    Re: Weber Q gas braai

I use and like braai mats. Haven't used it yet on the Q.
Actually my goal may be different to Andrew's - I just want to get a much lighter grid than the supplied one. Something like this.

    New...

    Re: Weber Q gas braai

    Andrew,

For simplicity, I would retain the indents and not bother with adding handles.
Thickness... probably as thin (light) as possible without warping on heat. Not sure what that would be.
    The...
  4. Re: charging or operating a laptop with a modified sine wave inverter?

    I agree with Kobus.

    Do a search on
    laptop car charger
on the internet - there should be multiple products. Confirm that it can handle your laptop's required wattage.

    Re: Lithium 444 first impressions?

I think the 444 should be great for that, depending on the load that you put on.

    Re: Weber Q gas braai

The Q1200 uses a gas cannister, which can be handy.
But to use with LPG, you have to get a conversion.

The 1200 is also much less BTU, so hopefully will help with the temperature issue as well as...

    Re: Weber Q gas braai

Botany came back to me, and will advise on the grids for the Q2200. Fortunately they have access to units to go and measure.

    Re: Inverter for bakkie

For laptop and drone battery you likely will get 12V ciggie-light adapters, which should be more efficient, and likely safer that a modified sine wave 220v inverter with your usual chargers.

Re: Post a Photo of your Camping Setup

The oztents are just beautiful, although the full setup takes a while to set up.

We did the KNP Lebombo trail a few years ago with an RV5. Basic setup every night on top of a double-folded...

    Re: Weber Q gas braai

    Yup.

As stated, their cheapest shipping cost for the Q2200 is ~R333, which has to be factored into the price comparison.
And they have to show pricing on the maroon-top to compare apples with...

    Re: Weber Q gas braai

I wish we had a Kloppers in Centurion, in general their prices seem quite good.
In this case though, the black-top Kloppers model matches the TaL maroon-top price, and Kloppers don't seem to list...

    Any luck with this, Andrew?

I see Amazon stocks a stainless steel grid, but of course the price and shipping is rough.

    Re: Weber Q gas braai

I'm partial to the q2200 with the maroon hat, but usually a LOT more expensive than the black hat model.
But on Takealot daily deals today 22/12/2019 for R4,999

    Use it, don't use it ... ;D

    Re: Lithium 444 first impressions?

If you plug the fridge into the 444 while driving, you are removing charge as you are adding it IMO. So I would separate them.

    Re: Lithium 444 first impressions?

I have to agree, charging via 12V is just way too slow.
I tried putting all the solar panels on the caravan, and then plugging the 444 into the van's 12V output for better use of the panels.
    Now I...

Re: Looking for a compact camping chair

I still love Helinox, have mine for a couple of years already.

If you worry about weight rating, I think it is 145kg.

Unfortunately no local support anymore that I know of.
