    Re: Renault Duster

Ouch - thanks - that was close. I need to sort a couple of things and tune in a bit more, but was going to be heading back to the dyno for the third time shortly thereafter. I was going to apply...

  3. Defender Re: Vents on bonnet to cool down under bonnet temperature

Injecting just water lowers the charge air temp making more oxygen available for the combustion process. This is from the water turning into steam, absorbing heat. Secondly, this steam effect helps...
  4. Defender Re: Vents on bonnet to cool down under bonnet temperature

The OP was concerned about under bonnet temp.
    Two suggestions:
1 Wrap the exhaust while it is in the engine bay (EM, turbo - if applicable, DP); and
2 Water injection in the intake manifold as...

How many kilometres on the dial?

The EGR exists just so that the OEM can pass initial emissions testing. Anything in the exhaust flow will eventually get coated with soot and freeze. In the UK, to...

Not bad...245mm puts you in Wrangler territory. You could also add strut spacers, raised Mudster / Bilstein shock towers or taller H&R springs for more height. Suspension spacers are possible at the...

I grew concerned about our wading depth when seeing all the flooding in Kruger and the Kalagadi.

Sorry to hear about your prang. I trust that the repairs will go well.

You said that you have a 2WD. So, I can't advise switching to AWD. You've also mentioned AT tyres. Have you switched to them yet? The OEMs are more a road tyre.

Weber also make side drafts for a lower profile...might be time to think about fuel injection, but then you'd need an ECU and MAF.

Re: Renault Duster 1.5 diesel engine oil

I ordered it via flea bay based upon size, which was a bad idea as it had a slight notch missing. I did manage to overcome the notch, but not ideal.

After seeing a Fram filter cut open, I won't be buying another one of those. So far, I've tried WIX WL7427 Car Oil Filter - Spin-On Replaces W79 PH9739 OC727 and Goldwagen Hans Pries Topran R0024...

    Re: Renault Duster Problems

On a very few of the very first Gen1s, they had a belt driven hydraulic pump and a few did leak. However, I haven't seen any problems with the electric pump version.

    The electric fuel pump...

    Re: Buying a Renault Duster.

Correct - single camshaft, 8 valves using a cambelt (not a chain which needs to be immersed in oil).
Gen1 didn't have an alarm. Other new vehicles don't either. They do have an ignition immobiliser.

    Good price actually

You might as well do the EGR at the same time. If the welder can, have them plug both ends of the flex pipe coming off the exhaust manifold. The EM side will need to be welded...

Why do you suspect that you have a sludge problem?

Note: they are fuel product specific: diesel or petrol and is not suitable for motorcycles with wet clutches and small two-cycle engines.

If you still have your DPF and Cat, you must use the lower sulphur and ash C4.

I tried 5w30 and noticed more clacking from the engine without any improvement in fuel economy. I went back to 5w40.

    Re: Renault Duster Problems

Often, the parts are interchangeable. Get the part numbers and compare. Often they provide a list: "replaced by" or something similar, which lists the various makes.
