    I did 3 crossings, remember I was 1 person in one vehicle, so did not take any chances. From W to E the first crossing was about 400mm the rest 2 - 3 inches deep.

    I did this route for the first time last week, from west to east.

    In my view low range or even 4x4 is not needed, although as said here before if you towing may come very handy once or twice.

    Did this road on Tuesday. No problems, can easy do it in a car. Many small (FWD 1/2 ton) bakkies came screaming past. I just took it slow and had no problems.
