    I also made sure the lighthouse was still there.

    So the modified fan cools the engine seemingly satisfactorily.

    I investigated and discovered the fan was blowing air forwards due to the blades being designed for a puller fan. I needed a pusher fan.

    I reconfigured the mounting brackets, flipped the blades...

    I fetched it from the auto electrician.

    The battery drain is apparently sorted.
    My fancy polo fan has been replaced by a cheap.

    The cheapy now doesn't cool the engine properly.

    Well, some times I think it is, but it is much better than the random backfiring if was doing with 1 box.

    They found that my fancy new polo electric radiator fan has a controller on the motor.

    This constantly 'checks' for power so it was draining the battery.

    I found a plain old 2 wire 12 volt fan...

    I assume that the button activates a pump to transfer from sub to main.

    So light on = pump on.

    DIY definitely in terms of what I have learnt and cost savings.

    But paying someone else to do the job might have been better but sometimes not, sometimes quicker but sometimes not.

    no issues other than the rubber boot on 2 have torn.

    Also I finally found a right hand side tailgate scissor hinge.

    You could take it to the dealer, Maritime Motors.
    Or take it to an independent shop.

    There are no Mitsubishi only specialists but there are a lot of good independent shops.

    The exhaust noise is much quieter. Almost too quiet.
    I must get used to it.

    Also there are no more annoying pops and bangs at +- 2000 rpm.

    Brakkeduine was fun.

    The power steering fluid leaked out. So no power steering with deflated tyres and sand was interesting.

    I got stuck.

    I got out.

    To me the V8 sounds like the v6.
