Re: New Defender : Can it be used for Overlanding?

I spent the weekend in a ND as a passenger and really enjoyed it. We did a mix of freeway and gravel, with a splash of off-road and I was very impressed. But I kept on worrying about those low...

  7. Re: January visit - where to camp in the rainy season?

The good part is you wonít have to book. If you want to have less rain then the western parts (Hwange etc). You may even get away with a couple of days in Gona.

After Hwange you could always do...

Re: Twee Revieren to Kaa Gate

James, thatís about a 10 hour trip, minimum. Longer if you are dragging a trailer.

Youíll very likely find space at Kaa gate, there are a couple of campsites there. The Kaa gate road is sandy,...

Re: Is a Jeep the Right Choice?

Why don’t you just hire a vehicle when you come out here? Much simpler.

The Jeep is not the answer for the type of travelling you intend to do.

Re: D4- Botswana trip and tyres

Only Khwai? If so itís not that sandy in that area, 2 bar will be fine.

With those tyres you are pretty limited to how low you can go, I wouldnít go much below 1.8 for any length of time.
  35. Re: Elephant kills South African man in Zimbabwe's Mana Pools

I hear what youíre saying but Iím not reading that from the article. They were trampled 40m from their vehicle, which implies they had seen the herd first and decided to get a closer look on foot.
