  1. Re: Bots in a minivan... with 3 small kids?

Yes there is, but research that carefully as well :)
  2. Re: Bots in a minivan... with 3 small kids?

The internet is also wrong about Maun, it is high risk all year round. Plus unless you are in the tourist industry, there is very little work opportunities. A lot of people in Maun send their kids...

    Re: Prado here?

Ja nee wat, agreed. Just go for the Prado. Fortuner is not in the same class, not even the new Fortuner.
  4. Re: Bots in a minivan... with 3 small kids?

    Walter, you make a point.

From a permanent living in Botswana point of view and work, the options are Gabs, Francistown, maybe Mahalapye or Palapye. Not much going in Phikwe now I believe.

  5. Re: Bots in a minivan... with 3 small kids?

    I fully agree with Pat.

OP, maybe also research what is required to go live in Botswana;)::) You will need a residence permit to start with.

Re: Just don't get some people...

I remember that clearly as well as the reactions.

Pretty much like the thread recently where the collective 'wisdom' is that is quite OK and do-able to overland and go off-road in a 4x2. Hell,...

Re: The do's and dont's of sand driving

Yes that is the correct method. Practise a lot because it is crucial to get right and a LOT of people cannot do it or is too scared.

I can just add, that when turning the wheel sharply a small...

Re: Do you like the new Defender?

YES! I like it! Very much.

When the time comes for my next, and probably last new 4x4 in the next five years or so, it will come down to a new Defender or a Prado which will hopefully by then...

    Re: Grid Tied Solar

yip and the inverter resets itself after 30 seconds and life just goes on.

We are on the system now for more than 2 months and the last time we overloaded it was about a month ago. Even my son...

    Re: Grid Tied Solar

We have the same inverter but 12 panels x 400 W panels and 2 batteries. I think the batteries are set to 50% discharge, then we switch to the grid. Usually in the early hours of the morning. Will...

    Re: Bush Lapa mods

Dis slegs 220v wat in ons set up deur die paneel gaan. Daar is 'n relay wat blykbaar vashaak en groot geraas maak wanneer die battery vol gelaai is van 220v.

Al wat ek bedoel is dat ons reeds die...

A bit of an obscure question: has any of the older BL owners upgraded from their original HcDP panel and still have the panel/box lying around? We are looking for a working HcDP panel to take over...

    Re: Bush Lapa general discussions

Re: Overlanding.. Do you really need a 4x4?

You can do parts of Namibia and Botswana with a 4x2 high clearance vehicle.

There are however parts, like Nxai pan, Linyanti, Savuti, Moremi, CKGR (especially the access up to Deception pan),...

  29. Re: Vehicle ground clearance needed for Nxai Pan

    Re: Botswana Trip sept/oct 2019

No reason not to go to Kubu via Lethlakane.

  31. Re: Vehicle ground clearance needed for Nxai Pan

You will need 4x4 without a doubt and to deflate your tyres. Don't even consider the Baines boabab track, take the...
