    Re: Kamp bykosse

Jy kan jouself 'n pot was spaar: draai die mielies ook toe in foil en sit naby die hitte as jy die vuur aansteek. Haal hulle uit die foil en op die rooster as jy die vleis opsit.
  2. Re: Best route from Pretoria East to Hartebeespoort dam?

So wait, where are the road works? N4, N14 (know about those), R 511 or R512? And the reckless passing which was referred to?

    Re: Camping in Moremi

Best time IMO is October, November. Not as busy but a really nice time of year. Lots of bird life and some animal babies will start to appear. But it can be hot.

I would split my time between...

    Re: Kamp bykosse

Ek eet nie baie vleis nie so het al geleer om plan te maak.

    Daar is heelwat opsies:

  9. Re: Best route from Pretoria East to Hartebeespoort dam?

Jelo, the blue route is the one we took last year and it felt if there were a 100 stop streets, klein paadjies and lots of slow traffic. I just don't want to get lost. But thanks. :)

  10. Best route from Pretoria East to Hartebeespoort dam?

I need to get from Pretoria East to Pecanwood college near Hartebeespoort dam on Saturday morning.

Thinking of taking the N14 Krugersdorp highway, then the R512 all the way to Pecanwood.

    Any...

    Re: Fortuner 2.4? 2.8?

Ok, I can maybe answer some questions:

    2. My 2.8 is my daily drive, it gives around 12l/100 in town driving which is mostly short distance and stop and start traffic. It has however gone as low...

  14. Re: Kgalagadi pictures thread, NO cat pics allowed!

Jfh, the colour of the sky and contrast with the sand road in the second pic is breathtaking.8)

And the sky really is that shade of blue on some days, lovely!
  15. Re: Kgalagadi pictures thread, NO cat pics allowed!

    Wow, all stunning8)

Correct oom Henk, I should have said the cat predators:)

Also agreed about the blue skies contrasting with the red dunes and the 'sky on fire' sunsets.
  16. Kgalagadi pictures thread, NO cat pics allowed!

Following a suggestion on the Kgalagadi discussion thread, I am starting this thread for KTP photos.

The park is about SO MUCH more than predators.

So....the ONLY rule here is post any photo...

Fortuner Re: Fortuner 4.00 V6 4x4 no longer made

There is the 2.4 diesel as well.

Not surprised that they discontinued the 4.0 in the Fortuner. I can imagine that they sell very low volumes of them. And it is heavy on juice.

Kgalagadi lodge is lovely, but keep in mind most campsites does not have shade in the form of trees. Also suprisingly sandy in places.

I have no recent update on the condition of the road. Like all dirt roads it can vary daily.

We tend to avoid fence sites for a few reasons. One being that I get very rude to people who hand feed hyenas through the fence. But I digress.......:-X

  28. Re: Preferred route Pretoria -Groblersbrug/Martins Drift

No, you don't go to Mahalapye. There is a road on the Botswana side that brings you out close to Sherwood. From Stockpoort you will go to Machaneng, the road I am referring to runs north east from...

Schools close in Friday. Other may have the same idea to leave early. Keep that in mind.

I would rather opt for Stockpoort.

One thing that worries me about this is that people might not be in a hurry to vacate their campsite. Imagine arriving at say 14h00 or 15h00 and finding the previous occupants of your campsite in no...
